Small Boat Sailing on Sequim Bay. Lido 14 Fleet 77. January 2, 2011. It’s always good to pick a New Year’s resolution that one has a realistic chance of achieving. For 2011 I’ve decided to try to reactivate Lido 14 Fleet 77 (North Olympic). The Lido 14 racing scene peaked on the Olympic Peninsula in the late 90’s. The 1997 Lido 14 Handbook and Class Roster. Why is rebuilding Fleet 77 a good idea? There aren’t many one-design dinghy classes on the Olympic Peninsula that are suitable for the. And the John ...

August Breezes | Sail Sequim Bay
https://sailsequimbay.wordpress.com/2010/08/28/august-breezes
Small Boat Sailing on Sequim Bay. August 28, 2010. Summer sailing conditions on Sequim Bay are ideal. We get a reliable 5-15 knot sea breeze out of the NNW almost every afternoon. Towards the end of August we start to experience stronger winds from the NW. A great example occurred yesterday afternoon where we experienced gusts up to 20 knots. This is the time of the year when the SBYC Junior sailors get to put their boat-handling skills. From → Uncategorized. Larr; Just starting …. Old Workhorses →.

Old Workhorses | Sail Sequim Bay
https://sailsequimbay.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/old-workhorses
Small Boat Sailing on Sequim Bay. August 30, 2010. The SBYC Junior Sailing program uses old Lasers and Lido 14s. Despite being decades-old, these boats have proven to be simple to rig, durable and fun to sail. The Lido 14s are an enigma – the four boats in our fleet are between 40 and 50 years old – so old that their history and racing pedigree are a mystery. We know that. Do they still break on occasion? Absolutely. Will they ever compete again in a major regatta? Without a doubt …. Larr; August Breezes.

Small Boat Sailing on Sequim Bay. SBYC Juniors – Reflections on the Year. September 19, 2010. The 2010 SBYC Junior sailing season has come to a reluctant end. Yesterday’s Reach for Hospice Regatta. Was our last official on-the-water event for the year. Although mother nature didn’t exactly cooperate, a few of the juniors went out out on club boats and they had a good time racing from GPS coordinate to GPS coordinate in the fog. Small Boat Sailing on Sequim Bay. Force 7 on Sequim Bay. October 23, 2010. Sequim Bay is not normally a hazardous place to sail. The exception comes when a major low-pressure system off of Vancouver Island causes a southerly blow. That was the case today during an SBYC Fall Series race. Microclimates | Sail Sequim Bay

Small Boat Sailing on Sequim Bay. November 21, 2010. As we left the house yesterday I was pretty sure we wouldn’t be racing. The snow was increasing and visibility was poor. The wind was whipping out in the Strait. But as hard-core sailors, Reid and I needed to show up at the marina and put on our game faces. As we rounded the last curve on Whitefeather Way. Were drag-racing on a north-south course with 15 kts of wind out of the WNW. No tacking, no spinnakers but still a lot of fun:. You are commenting u...
