What a Serendipitious State of Mind

What a Serendipitious State of Mind. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Field trips and Fairy Tales: Day one. We managed to rent a car for the trip for about eighty Euros a day, and with five people there with us it made the trip insanely cheap to go on the original idea was for us to just go to a town called rocamadour, but it turned into so much more than that. It was an escape into the great unknown and new insight into the beauty of France. Sunday, October 19, 2014. Labels: broadening our horizons. Last ti...

What a Serendipitious State of Mind. Tuesday, September 16, 2014. A Change of Plans: Part I. I guess a lazy Tuesday afternoon is as good as any day to catch up on some writing. I have been thinking long and hard about what to write on here because there is so much that comes with travel that rather than give you detailed play by plays of each of my days it is easier to tell you stories. The first story I have for you involves getting lost, a new roommate and two gifts very gracious host. I did not have a...

Our Many Blessings: September 2012

http://farawaynelson.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 17, 2012. Time Out For Women - 2012. I'm entering my second week of taking care of sick kids. Last week Jonas and I both came down with a stomach bug. I was a little concerned because I had tickets for Time Out For Women and did not want to miss it! Luckily we were both recovered by Friday, and Charlotte was showing no symptoms. Well, she tossed her cookies 15 minutes after getting to school this morning so I turned my car back around to go get her and here we go again! I was also fortu...

Friday, August 9, 2013. C's 5th Birthday - Part 2. A Little Family Get Together on Her Birthday. We have a tradition that the birthday person gets to pick what they want for dinner on their birthday. Doesn't everyone have that tradition? This year Charlotte asked for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and mashed potatoes.so that's what we had. We then opened up some gifts. Happy to get a glove and ball to play with Daddy. Pink boots.a dream come true! This is how it looked when we gave it to her. Simple ...

Our Many Blessings: June 2012

http://farawaynelson.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 28, 2012. C's friend outgrew her bike, and we were the lucky recipients of her old one! We've been wanting to get C a bike for a while now, but they're just so expensive. (well, really her birthday is in August, and I always imagine her riding a bike for two months before winter sets in and then growing out of it by next summer. I feel like it'd be wasted money to buy her a new one.at least until she's bigger). And then she was really upset when I wouldn't help her every time. I had C make...

Our Many Blessings: Hello Kindergarten!

http://farawaynelson.blogspot.com/2013/08/hello-kindergarten.html

Monday, August 26, 2013. Charlotte started Kindergarten today. She was "a little bit excited and a little bit nervous. Excited to go, but nervous because it's all day." She wasn't sure she'd be okay away from me for that long. (I wonder if we feel the same way before we come to Earth.Anyway.). The report that came back from her at the end of the day was a positive one. She loved school, and she was so busy that she didn't even notice that she was gone from me all day. Our Many Blessings: Becoming "Free," I mean "Three"

http://farawaynelson.blogspot.com/2013/09/becoming-free-i-mean-three.html

Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Becoming "Free," I mean "Three". J turned three this past week. He pronounces three as "free." He has been so excited to get bigger so that he can walk beside the cart at the store instead of ride in it. When he woke up on his birthday morning the first thing he asked me was,"Can I walk now? We had a little family party for him on Saturday night. He chose hot dogs, salad and chips for his birthday dinner. He never ceases to amaze me with the things he says and what he does!

Our Many Blessings: August 2013

http://farawaynelson.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 29, 2013. So, here it was the night before kindergarten, and I realized that it was just going to be me and Jonas at home all day. I love Jonas, and it wasn't disappointment about spending time with him that I was feeling. It was more just disappointment that I don't have another child yet. It has been fun doing activities together (like playing with shaving cream) that we normally don't do because he is playing with his sister. Monday, August 26, 2013. Monday, April 23, 2012. Day Eight - Passions. 2 Families. Not just my family, but all families. I agree with Elder M. Russell Ballard's recent remarks at General Conference:. And, of course, societies at large are strengthened as families grow stronger. Commitments to family and values are the basic cause. Nearly everything else is effect. Of our lifetime is our families. If we will devote ourselves to this cause, we will improve every other aspect of our lives and will become, as a people and as a c...

Friday, August 31, 2012. First Day of School. Charlotte had her first day of school on Monday. The preschool we were going to send her to in Ohio was only 3 days a week. The one I was able to get her in here is every morning and at the elementary school. It was a little hard for me. I felt like I was sending her to elementary school an entire year earlier than I had planned. She absolutly loves it though! Thursday, August 30, 2012. Second 4th Birthday Celebration. They're really cute and VERY Charlotte.

Friday, July 13, 2012. Thank you to all our family and friends who have been so encouraging and supportive in response to my last post. Now, I made a promise to share with you all the reasons we're happy to be here in Texas. 2 Cassie. You know they always say it's great to marry your best friend, but when I married my best friend I got a second best friend along with it. I didn't realize I was getting a package deal! Serendipitiously Connected

Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Aliye and I were searching for a cool name for our blog and all the coolest ones were already taken. Well we tried couple Latin words without putting too much thought on them. Later coming across with the idea "Serendipitous Connectability" in Punya Mishra's blog. Do you think this is serendipitous, too? Who are these people? A bunch of graduate students. To share stories, ideas and opinions. . Massively, collectively, collaboratively. . Saturday, April 28, 2007. Companionship vs. autonomy. In avoidance of sentimental crap I have found myself incapable of blogging anything recently. I miss her, she bugs, I wish he would ask me out- all become trivial when you take in a broader perspective. I graduate in 12 weeks. I move to California. I grow up. But what does growing up entail? Is there some secret ritual one imagines can only be appropriate in a boy's locker room? Are eternal manifestations and visions bestowed upon the aged? This is su...

Sunday, September 27, 2009. It really amazes me sometimes, how christians can be so hypocritical. It really amazes me that they can call themselves "Christians" and yet they do not put Christianity into practise. What is the essence of Christianity? To obey the 10 commandments and to obey God are just some of the many things. And just how do we obey God? Well, it's a circular argument really, that when we obey God, we obey the 10 commandments. What is the greatest of all commandments? How can we discrimi...
