Serving His Children

Saturday, 20 September 2014. The more you know. This blog is all about what severe acute malnutrition is, why it occurs and what we do here at Serving His to break the cycle. We are equipped to handle 18 children along with a caregiver at any given time, although when needs are high we manage to find space for all those that the Lord sends! We are blessed to have a well equipped ICU for our sicker patients. Here at Serving His we mainly see two types of malnutrition. Is a form of severe. Occurrence incre...

Serving His Children: The moment you've been waiting for

http://servinghischildren.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-moment-youve-been-waiting-for.html

Sunday, 14 September 2014. The moment you've been waiting for. Two weeks ago we posted on our Facebook and Instagram that we received a shipping container. Over the past year the Lord has blessed us with several donations from many generous people. Even the shipping container was donated to be used! We received a beautiful incubator! Possible functions of a neonatal incubators are:. Oxygenation, through oxygen supplementation. By head hood or nasal cannula, or even continuous positive airway pressure.

Serving His Children: January 2013

http://servinghischildren.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, 24 January 2013. Currently, Manafwa is actually where a lot of our inpatient cases are coming from! We of course do our best to give treatment/teaching to these families for an in-home recovery, and frequently we find outpatient care to be very effective! But, when the child is too severe and has a lot of other complications we have them transferred into our Jinja center for further and more intense treatment. This is how little Evanas came to be with us…. Friday, 11 January 2013. Shafeek came ...

Serving His Children: October 2013

http://servinghischildren.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Monday, 21 October 2013. Here at Serving His Children, one of the things we really enjoy is making homemade bread 2-3 times a week. Our moms and staff always love a good piece of fresh bread for breakfast! Since wheat flour is not readily available here, we add additional ingredients to make our bread a little extra nutritious. Our recipe is simple and easy to make. Give it a try and home! It makes great sandwich bread, toasted garlic bread or even just fresh bread with a little Chai in the mornings.

I Am Beautiful Bee: July 2014

http://iambeautifulbee.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

I Am Beautiful Bee. Sunday, July 27, 2014. Mondo bag made for Shelby. This is my first shot at any sort of tutorial, so no promises on clarity of directions. I will try to show you how I made my second one of the Mondo bags. Two panels of the pattern that is printed on fusible web from Quilt Smart. Enough fabric for 208 2-1/2 squares and two handles (I used less than half of a Bali pop or jelly roll) (you could also use just a few fabrics for a bold look, or even just strips). 1-1/4 yd fusible fleece.

I Am Beautiful Bee. Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Block exchange blocks #1. These are the first of several sets of 12 - 5 inch string blocks I am exchanging. These are Katherine's. I was able to stitch them up while her big quilt is being done by Cinnamon. She chose a Halloween theme. Fun and easy! Links to this post. Sunday, June 8, 2014. Alabama Quilts Syposium Ribbons. http://iambeautifulbee.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

I Am Beautiful Bee. Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Math/geometry is not my forte. I have the Companion Angle ruler but couldn't figure out what size strip to get a 2in (1.5 finished) block after several tries. So then I moved on to doing the two squares and stitching 1/4 inch on either side of center then cutting apart method. It only took two tries to get that one sized right. Whew. ( I wanted a two inch unfinished square so cut them at 2-3/8 inches). Links to this post. Labels: Block of the month.

I Am Beautiful Bee. Sunday, April 26, 2015. Status of the move. or lack of. So where do things stand these days? Can you feel my frustration here? The catch is that as much as I want my family together, I really don't want to move to Iowa. The boys and I went there for spring break and it was miserable. DH told me just last week the temperature was in the 30's. No thank you. Certainly God has a plan through all of this, I just wish I knew what it is. April 27, 2015 at 8:24 AM. http://iambeautifulbee.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

I Am Beautiful Bee. Friday, January 23, 2015. New project, block of the month. I have started a new quilt, a block of the month called Snapshots. The patterns are released on the 15th of each month and are free. The only request is that a donation of $5 per block be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Center. I am crazy about the red/aqua/blue colors right now and so this really makes my heart sing, which I can really use these days. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Count it *all* JOY!

http://iambeautifulbee.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

I Am Beautiful Bee. Monday, September 1, 2014. Mondo Bag Fun Day. The Mondo Bag from QuiltSmart. Was a big hit and a gal in my stitch group (Stitch Its) suggested we do them as a group project. So we did just that. I ordered the fusible interfacing/pattern by the bolt and all interested parties got theirs. Below are some of the finished or nearly finished bags. I love the variety and how each person's personality comes through in the fabric selections! Kathy's or Patte's or Cecilia's? Links to this post.
