Monthly Archives: March 2011. I think I have mastered the Komasu Shibori technique. I’ve got an ok from Glennis to make this simple tutorial to share with you. Komasu Shibori with Natural Dye. I was reluctant to try Arashi Shibori for ages fearing the steaming part of the process! I had dyed the silk yellow the previous day. After the winding I dipped it in turquoise. I left it overnight for the color to react. When I unwrapped it after 24 hours I wasn’t totally happy with it. I feel that the winding needs more work to it. I might have to over dye it with something. Maybe black or grey, but at the moment here is my first Arashi Shibori! 22/04/2011 at 5:44 am.

Komasu Shibori Tutorial →. This is my second try on Komasu Shibori. I was very happy how it turned out the first time so I wanted to try it again in a different colour. I used the whole width of kimono silk which is 14.5″ wide and 2 meters long. I divided the piece into 4 sections and stitched on the folds. The tube looked like a caterpillar with sharp spikes before I dyed it. This entry was posted in komasu. Komasu Shibori Tutorial →. 28/03/2011 at 1:26 am. Or dip it in the dye? notjustnat creative blog: CWB
http://notjustnat.blogspot.com/p/civil-war-bride-quilt.html
It has been six months since I last visited the CWBQ. It was in my mind to get back to it since I put it away before Christmas, but I just had many other projects I want to do as well. Anyway, not all is lost. I'm back to visit it again working on the table block I started six months ago. To get myself motivated I even took a drive to see the original CWBQ at Threadbear. Here it is the original quilt I saw in person at Threadbear. I was the last visitor yesterday afternoon. Corliss was busy preparing...

July 26, 2015. The Gallery of Dye Stuff. I come to the conclusion that winter (our winter) is the best time for eco-dye and printing. Either there is something in the leaves plus water (not sure yet! Or it could be my over five years of dyeing experience, but who knows? Whatever it is, I'm happy with the results lately. Please read the captions for details of each one. August 7, 2015. You can't beat a hands-on workshop! Anyway, what I want to say in this post is, I ran another Eco-dye workshop a couple of weeks ago. It was very successful and I learned a lot from it, hehe! I got inspired by the workshop and I haven't stopped dyeing ever since! So here are photos of many hands in action I took on the day. Thanks to all workshop participants for a fun day. You ladies were very creative and inspiring! Gentle hands revealing first bundle. I love this photo! Beautiful textu...

Today I will show you the melon baskets I made using varieties of fibres and materials. I have given a lot of them away, but luckily I took photos of them before I did. The above basket made using grapevines for handle, cane for ribs and spokes and hand dyed canes for God eye (the green square at the base of the handle) and red hot poker leaves for weavers. I kept this one for myself. I love it! Of Victoria website for more information. December 31, 2010 9:34 AM. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Https:/ bcqc-...

http://notjustnat.blogspot.com/p/dyeing.html
Some weeks I don't have anything new to blog about but other weeks I have plenty. I don't want to swamp you with too many posts so I decided that posting once a week is just right. Last weekend I tried my hand at Shibori dyed in indigo. I have seen a video on YouTube about the traditional. This is how it looks like after I rinsed out the dye, but before untying the string. It looks good as it is before untying it doesn't it? These pieces are silk from a lining of vintage kimono. The moon shapes weren...
notjustnat creative blog: Exhibition
http://notjustnat.blogspot.com/p/exhibition.html
Busy, exhilarated and tiring day, but we did it again. The Notjustnat Exhibition opening was this afternoon. We have all had a busy day, but I can see on everyone's faces that they were excited and had a great day. We have all pulled together very well. Everyone did their bit and the event went very smoothly. The weather held up long enough for us, but not long after that the sky opened up and it poured with rain. Thanks rain for holding off long enough for us to get indoors. Tricia McGaughey did the off...

Do you sometimes treat yourself on your birthday? Vintage Kimono fabric on the left that I gave myself for a scarf, a Shibori book and the fabric in front was a gift from Myra.
