Best reads of 2014: fiction | the soapbox
https://soapboxrants.wordpress.com/2015/01/07/best-reads-of-2014-fiction
Best reads of 2014: fiction. January 7, 2015. One huge advantage of a kindle (apart from portability) is that with it I read more. This does not equal reading more good books but reading more average novels/easy reads, unable to resist a free or 99p deal of the day. Peter Robinson’s DCI Banks series and Greg Isle’s Penn Cage series were some of the more enjoyable cheap reads. I did still manage some decent books and my top five in no particular order are:. An Officer and a Spy – Robert Harris. I love Sam...

Five best non-fiction reads of 2014. January 21, 2015. Following on from my top fiction reads of 2014 and top reads from Jayber. I’ve tried to distill my best non-fiction reads of last year. The Governor – John Lonergan. A fascinating insight into life in the prison service and the Irish penal system. Some legal friends seem a bit sceptical of him. this song of soul: one that sings
http://thissongofsoul.blogspot.com/2009/08/one-that-sings.html
Monday 10 August 2009. It may be that when we no longer know what to do. We have come to our real work,. And that when we no longer know which way to go. We have come to our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings. This poem seemed kind of relevant to me today. on another note, i'm thinking about making a blogging comeback. hmm. 11 August 2009 at 22:34. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Where'd the sunshine go? Just went for a walk. (yes, I know I wrote a serious post about procrastination, but still have to get out of the house sometimes or I’ll go crazy! this song of soul: no ebb, chill or change...
http://thissongofsoul.blogspot.com/2009/09/no-ebb-chill-or-change.html
Thursday 24 September 2009. No ebb, chill or change. O love that wilt not let me go. I rest my weary soul in Thee. I give Thee back the life I owe. That in Thine ocean depth its flow. May richer, fuller be. Beloved, nothing shall take the love of Christ from you, or separate you from it. It does not ebb with the ebbing of your feelings; it does not chill with the chill of your affections; it does not change with the changing scenes and circumstances of your life." -Octavius Winslow. I miss you x.

A more modest goal this year: simply to make a note of three records, three movies and three books that have stayed with me and followed me around, that made some kind of lasting impact, that have lingered in my memory and my thoughts. You might like them too. Looks like I’m here with a guy that I judge worse than anyone else. Kiss the World Beautiful. You can leave a comment.

smell my beard: iris part two
http://belfastbeards.blogspot.com/2008/06/iris-part-two.html
Thursday, 12 June 2008. I must be a bit slow, but i have just worked out what iris is up to. I have never heard her say anything vaguely religious before, and the day after her husband takes over from "the big man", she is gay bashing, because that is what the bible clearly says and she always does what the bible says. It seems that it is purely a political move to reassure the religious(bigoted) voters that voted for the DUP because Ian was religious(a bigot). Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch?
