Robyn Thiessen's blog

Thursday, 10 November 2016. One of the things that I have noticed is that students have favourite areas and partners to work with. Many choose the exact same area to work everyday. I am wondering if this is okay or if students need to be guided to experience new work spaces? Do they need to work with a variety of students or the same ones every day? Is it any different than keeping them in the same desk groups all year? I am attaining my goal? Should I mess with the success that I am having? In recent ye...

Robyn Thiessen's blog: April 2013

http://soaringthroughthird.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Monday, 29 April 2013. Posted by Mrs. Robyn Thiessen. Sunday, 28 April 2013. Today I am thinking about.Sharing. Share, we have always been encouraged to share, first by our parents and then by our teachers. As adults, sharing doesn't always come easily. That is why I marvel at the friends that I have met through Twitter, Skype, Wonderopolis and The Global Classroom Project! You gave me so much! I appreciate your visit more than you could ever know! Have you shared lately? Has anyone made your day? 3 Reas...

Robyn Thiessen's blog: September 2016

http://soaringthroughthird.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, 25 September 2016. As an experienced educator(over two decades, eeeek! It would be easy to fall back on tried and tested “old school” ways of teaching and class arrangement. But that is just not me! What would students do with all their supplies? Would students choose learning spaces based on their needs or the needs of their friends? How would I manage all of these different seating arrangements? How would the lack of overhead lighting effect learning? Would students be respectful of the space?

Robyn Thiessen's blog: April 2012

http://soaringthroughthird.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, 29 April 2012. A little of this and a little of that. April has been a huge month for me. I was given an opportunity to attend a presentation by Alec Couros which allowed me to reaffirm all the changes that I have made in my teaching this year. I have also been asked to attend an iTunes U workshop this week at Apple headquarters in Richmond, I am very excited to say the least. In class my students have been finishing their Prezi's, which we had a huge celebration for! Always a fun time! Many stud...

Robyn Thiessen's blog: August 2012

http://soaringthroughthird.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Friday, 3 August 2012. Letting go and trying. So, I have been procrastinating about restarting, actually, REALLY beginning to blog all summer. It was one of the most exciting and terrifying years I have ever had. Things were changing and at the end of each day I was exhilarated and exhausted, thinking WOW that was a busy day, maybe tomorrow will be more relaxing, but that tomorrow never came! I sent her a thank you comment, I felt relieved! It was a first for me! It was a turning point for me! How did yo...

What is a teacher? People just don't understand. For whatever reason lately, I've come to a clear understanding that people (who aren't teachers) really have no clue about what a teacher is. When I tell people I'm a teacher, the response I almost always get is. Then I had this question just the other day:. You don't feel like you do more work than you get paid for, do you Sandy? Does anyone (in any profession) really feel like they get paid enough for the amount of work they do? In light bulb moments and.

Soaring Through Sorrow

August 15, 2015. August 15, 2015. I am SO happy that I can say Ralf read these words, that he knew how I loved him. I believe he still does and always will. Even on my the days when I feel like the grief hits me all over again like a ton of bricks, that brings me so much comfort and peace. Don’t ever assume the people you love know how you feel about them. TELL them. SHOW them. Love them out loud. Even if they do already know, it’s nice to be reminded. August 12, 2015. Or what if it does come but I don&#...

Magda's Inspirations | Inspiring you to find yourself

Inspiring you to find yourself. July 8, 2015. Hola Soy tu Sombra.
