Misunderstanding is my cornerstone. It's everyone's, come to think of it. So I’ve joined the world of blogging. Xanga. For grown-ups or something like that, isn’t it? I felt a little more alive. The opening to Headlock still gives me chills every time; Hide and Seek entrances me for hours though I’ve had occasion to hear it hundreds and hundreds of times. Where other writers have outright rejected their faith, their socio-economic background, their family upbringing (I’m thinking of Andre Gide̵...

Misunderstanding is my cornerstone. It's everyone's, come to think of it. I know, Deviant Art is for 14 year-olds. I’ve been posting my photography there forever and I still do. What Does Being a Christian Mean to You? | Neither/Nor

Soul and Sentimentality →. 24/11/2014 · 20:45. What Does Being a Christian Mean to You? Every time I manage to think of something to blog about, it falls into one of two categories: Woah-is-me-isms or reflections on American Evangelical Christianity. Last time it was a Woah-is-me-ism, this time it’s about Christianity and how deeply conflicted I feel about Christianity. When my Evangelical friends and family talk about missions trips and going to share the Gospel, I am so deeply conflicted inside. Wh...

War on Christmas →. 12/12/2012 · 20:32. Why I oppose Right to Work. A lot of people are confused about what exactly Right to Work is which makes sense since the vast majority of Americans aren’t affected by Right to Work legislation. What is Right to Work? 8220;Right to Work” legislation defunds unions by saying that union members cannot be required to pay dues as a part of their membership in the union – which sounds really great until you consider that this promotes freeloading. Defunding labor unions ...

What Does Being a Christian Mean to You? 30/11/2014 · 17:44. Isn’t it a thing of privilege to sit down and jam buttons on your computer for an hour? Isn’t it a question of arrogance to think you have something to say that will interest others? Taking an hour to write every week forces me to reconnect with a larger view of life and the world as it moves on around me and it helps me reconnect with our common humanity, our common struggles through all of our differences. After all, there is the. There’...

The broadening of the world →. 31/03/2014 · 01:24. I have been struggling lately with the idea of belonging. I’ve not only struggled with belonging in terms of a religious community, but also in terms of the LGBT community. I don’t wish to associate myself with a religious community primarily because it feels inauthentic. How can you feel comfortable sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings with strangers with whom you associate merely because you spend an hour or two with them every week? What’...

Just a bike →. 14/03/2014 · 05:25. It’s been a while again since I wrote last. After writing my last post about being determined to carry on with Queerrant, I decided I had nothing really worth saying. Yes I am that wishy-washy. Another reason I haven’t written is that many of my thoughts lately are not easy to explain and I’m not comfortable divulging many of them. Or rather, I’m scared of how they might be misinterpreted. I’ve always struggled with belonging; I’m a perpetual outsider. At the same time,...

The broadening of the world. What Does Being a Christian Mean to You? 08/11/2014 · 19:14. I’m taking to writing on here once again not because I have much commitment to this blog in particular, but because I need some outlet. As a professed writer, I should actually write, shouldn’t I? Saying that you’re a writer sounds much sexier than actually doing it. But this is my hour of freedom. With the dog and the cat both napping and my partner at work, I get to breathe. I get to treat myself to an hou...Becau...

The Promised Land →. 06/04/2014 · 13:31. The broadening of the world. Last night I went to go see. It is much easier to remain ignorant, to go to the supermarket, make your purchases, and not have to think about where this food came from as if God is still sending us manna directly down from heaven, only now it lands in aisle 8 and costs $1.29/lb on sale. Easier said than done. That’s life in the trenches. The Promised Land →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).
Why queer? | Neither/Nor
https://queerrant.wordpress.com/queer
I like the word ‘queer’ just in case you couldn’t tell by the title of the blog. I realize a lot of people are uncomfortable with using the word ‘queer’ to describe themselves or to describe others because it sounds derogatory or militant. I prefer identifying as ‘queer’ rather than ‘gay’; in my mind gay. Is a very straightforward, literal word: a man who is attracted to other men or, in broader terms, a person attracted to someone of the same sex. Queer’ is a much more holistic term, I think. Being gay ...

Newer posts →. 31/01/2014 · 04:37. I haven’t been writing as much lately and I apologize for that, I guess, if you have been following me through the years and you’ve found some sort of enjoyment in reading my blog. I’ve been tending to shy away from blogging lately, because I find that it takes away from the very serious business of pretending I’m a writer. No, not funny? To make it short, this has not been a season of peace and quiet. I’ve thought about discontinuing the blog many times recently;...

Being I
Random questions and musings about life, love and living in the complex world of today. Saturday, November 20, 2010. The Irony of Being I. The woman I have been married to for ten years, shows concern for me when I look depressed, not knowing I am brooding over the break-up of an affair I have just had. My ex-girlfriend refuses to admit my troubled marriage hit rock bottom, because I changed my relationship with my wife when I started seeing my girlfriend, as a simple act of loyalty to her. My wife admit...

Speaking For Parrots: An Advocacy Blog. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. My name is Shari Mirojnick, and I arrived into the parrot world like so many other people - I fell in head-first. I say I fell in, because I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and head-first because from the first moment on, I was hooked. OK, enough about us. now, about this blog, my dreams, beliefs and purpose. Maybe you too will become a parrot advocate (I've got my fingers crossed). Friday, April 24, 2009. So, my purpose in wr...
