Spiritual Badminton: "Delayed gratification is dead [in our culture]."

http://www.spiritualbadminton.blogspot.com/2006/06/delayed-gratification-is-dead-in-our.html

Sunday, June 11, 2006. Delayed gratification is dead [in our culture].". My pastor said that this morning in his sermon. It wasnt the main point it was just a side comment about what he was talking about. but it clearly stuck with me so lets talk about it. Delayed gratification is a concept completely foreign to our culture. Wouldn't you agree? As a sign of how true this is i dont even feel i need to back it up with an example. The whole 'pick up your cross and follow me' concept. Well, a few points.

Spiritual Badminton: Cultural Relevance of the Church

http://www.spiritualbadminton.blogspot.com/2006/05/cultural-relevance-of-church.html

Wednesday, May 24, 2006. Cultural Relevance of the Church. Check out this article on contemporary church culture. It's written by my pastor, Mark Bates, of University Presbyterian Church. I'm not much of a linker (i think it's a cheap way to say you posted), but after I read this, I couldn't resist. It's lengthy, but I couldn't have said it better myself. Here's the link: Cultural Relevance of the Church. Posted by Karin Tome @ 5/24/2006 12:00:00 PM. At Friday, May 26, 2006 9:00:00 AM.

Spiritual Badminton: Finally we can begin

http://www.spiritualbadminton.blogspot.com/2006/04/finally-we-can-begin.html

Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Finally we can begin. So we've been planning to create this blog for a while now. Weeks of struggling for a name we finally settled on SpiritualBadminton. Ironically enough that was the first name we came up with when we started the process. Go figure. Now all we need is a catchy title. Posted by Jon @ 4/25/2006 07:09:00 PM. At Thursday, May 11, 2006 11:13:00 PM. For anyone who reads this, we are totally open to other names than "Spiritual badminton" if you can bat some our way.

Spiritual Badminton: Before the Throne

http://www.spiritualbadminton.blogspot.com/2006/05/before-throne.html

Monday, May 15, 2006. Sometimes, I get the feeling that Jesus sits on his throne, much like the captain of the Starship Enterprise,. And watches life unfold on earth below him. And then I sing songs like I did this past Sunday and I think I may have my Jesus picture a little skewed. The song Before the Throne of God Above. Squashes my view of a sitting Savior. Before the throne of God above. I have a strong, a perfect plea. A great High Priest whose name is "Love,". Who ever lives and pleads for me.

Monday, June 19, 2006. Thoughts and Memories from Trip to Bama. No traffic going up EXCEPT for when passing the National Peanut Festival. For some reason when I think of the state.I always think of the color BROWN - why is it. That they have so much more dirt than grass it seems ;). I miss living in a place where there is actually LAND between houses! I miss the country, horseback riding, 4-wheeling, and making mud pies ;). Thursday, May 25, 2006. We are the best fertilizers for our soul'.this is a line that came to my mind during a team devo the other day. Point is.God wants us to die to ourselves.to surrender our lives fully and completely to him! When we die completely to ourselves we allow him to mold and shape us into something beautiful. Now.this is hard.to completely die to yourself.and often times I think I have "half died" and an arm is decomposing while my legs are running.ha.make sense? Posted by KTown @ 11:36 PM.

K Town: July 2006

http://kbethtown.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 28, 2006. SOI am in my car, leaving Target in Waterford. A minute or two later: I am now the first person stopped at the stop sign. A car pulls in the middle of the 4 way stop waiting to turn left into Target. A couple seconds later: A Mercedes coming from another direction I guess got impatient of waiting on the car in the middle to turn into Target.they speed out in front of the car (and I mean FAST). As I was watching the Mercedes I shout, "Holy Crap! Posted by KTown @ 5:10 PM. Do you eve...
