Is She Breathing? | standupdad
https://standupdad.wordpress.com/2011/04/11/is-she-breathing
Standupkid's sleep-deprived, spitup-covered thoughts on fatherhood. So here’s the thing I struggle with. When will I ever stop worrying about whether she’s breathing? So we could wake up, put a hand on her chest and know she was okay. And I did that a lot. The hand on the chest is the most reassuring feeling. My wife will often simply say, “she’s breathing? Do I wake her to try and clear her nose? Didn’t they say never wake a baby? But what if she’s having trouble breathing? Life as a Dad. When my father...

Daddy’s Secret Baby Decoder | standupdad
https://standupdad.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/daddys-secret-baby-decoder
Standupkid's sleep-deprived, spitup-covered thoughts on fatherhood. Daddy’s Secret Baby Decoder. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of facing a screaming baby and having no idea what she needs. It’s one of the worst feelings ever. For me, my go-to baby answers machine is an iPhone app called Total Baby. It is, in a word, awesome. When my daughter starts crying, I go right to my phone and check the top of the app: I’ve got five icons telling me exactly how long it’s been since she last ate...The other...
The Etch-a-Sketch Effect: How My Daughter Changed Everything I Thought I Wanted Out Of Life | standupdad
https://standupdad.wordpress.com/2011/04/04/the-etch-a-sketch-effect-how-my-daughter-changed-everything-i-thought-i-wanted-out-of-life
Standupkid's sleep-deprived, spitup-covered thoughts on fatherhood. The Etch-a-Sketch Effect: How My Daughter Changed Everything I Thought I Wanted Out Of Life. Sure, I was ready for the obvious changes. I knew I’d be getting less sleep. And I was clear on the diapers and the bottles, and the worrying. I knew the house would fill with weird contraptions and toys, and that each and every one of them would come only after an extended period of research and concern: which is the right one? Life as a Dad.
New Guidelines for Carseats: Rear-Facing Until 2 Years Old | standupdad
https://standupdad.wordpress.com/2011/03/21/new-guidelines-for-carseats-rear-facing-until-2-years-old
Standupkid's sleep-deprived, spitup-covered thoughts on fatherhood. New Guidelines for Carseats: Rear-Facing Until 2 Years Old. After age 2, children should sit in booster seats until roughly age 12, always remaining in the back seat. The new guidelines grew out of a review of U.S. crash data from the past five years, which found one year olds are five times less likely to be injured in a crash if they’re facing backwards than if they were sitting in a forward-facing seat:. A rear-facing child safety sea...

April Down Under: November 2013
http://aprildownunder.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 28, 2013. This is my third Thanksgiving down under. Wow. Where has the time gone? We celebrate the Saturday following Thanksgiving because everyone (including me.the cooker of the Turkey) has to work. I would much rather have a four day weekend like all of my yank friends in the states, buttttt, Australian could care less about a meal shared between the Indians and Pilgrims. Followed by "traffic is horrible! Anyways, I have a lot in my life to be thankful for. Choosing not to parti...

Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Grill Master in Training. It was such a pretty day the other day that we decided that we were going to grill hamburgers and sit out on the patio. So, Michael decided that he was going to grill with Daddy. He took his grill outside and set up right next to Daddy. Getting the grill set up. Letting the hamburgers cook. Taking some time out to watch a little baseball. Checking on the burgers. Love nights like this! Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Monday, May 10, 2010. He is getting so big!
April Down Under: June 2014

Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Tomorrow is a new trimester. I can't believe I am entering the THIRD trimester tomorrow (28 weeks). It still feels fast and slow at the exact same time. Pregnancy has continued to be a difficult task. But I guess growing a person 24 hrs a day isn't suppose to be a walk in the park? Although "they" like to make it look like it's great! It certainly seems if it's not one thing it's another. So ready for August! The nurse laughed and said "oh, someone doesn't like the monitor at ALL!

Thursday, November 27, 2014. You are having a preemie.". I would tell you the "chapters" so to speak that I plan to write.but that would require me to think ahead and well, we all know that my ability to do that is nonexistent, and now that we have Emily home with us (where she belongs) I do good to plan my daily shower, much less blog entries. No offense, readers. I instantly burst into tears. How could this even be possible? The book. I bought the book! No, no. This is clearly a mistake. Remember, I re...

Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Another day, another late night. Well, I was right. 7am.which turned into 8am. April hated me this morning. Especially after once I got in bed, I discovered an episode of "Friends" was coming on. which meant of course I HAD to watch it. How can you not? We'll forget the little fact that I OWN the box set. Today work was flat out. Soo busy. And the weather? Rainy, cold and windy! Makes all that seem to disappear! And, Good eye might! Val, that's for you! I should be in bed!

Monday, February 11, 2013. Two Blogs in one night? So, I was piddling and surfing the net, and logged into an old blog looking for a quote. I came across the following and wanted to copy/paste and share it on this blog. It makes me laugh out loud and thought you might enjoy! Sometimes we think we really understand men. Then we regain consciousness. We do like to have sex, just not at midnight when we have to get up at the crack of dawn to feed two kids, three dogs, and a pair of fat goldfish. Rst because...

Sunday, March 31, 2013. Life as an Expat, continued. mate. A couple posts ago, I blogged about Life as an Expat (click here. To read the post). Since that post, I have had quite a bit of feedback from fellow "yanks" who totally relate, and some who found quite a good laugh with me (not AT me. well, probably, it certainly wouldn't be the first.). I am aware that the above is a toilet, and other than being more square than round, not MUCH difference right? Ok Two reasons I'm starting this blog off in the s...

I am a stand-up comic, a father of 3, and a husband of 1. And I have a blog. Yes, still. Tuesday, June 9, 2015. I only know that because I Googled it after I wrote the joke. I happily passed that information on to the lady who emailed me, but she didn't respond. The Lord and Google work in mysterious ways. Even my negative YouTube comments are more amusing than hurtful. And here's the several comments the viewer left on the The 206 Facebook page. Sorry they are so long. Anger makes people wordy. Track 4&...
standupdad | standupkid's sleep-deprived, spitup-covered thoughts on fatherhood
Standupkid's sleep-deprived, spitup-covered thoughts on fatherhood. A penny in my shoe. When I anchor the early morning news on weekends, I get up at a ridiculously early hour and fumble around in the dark, trying to get my clothes and shoes without waking my wife. This morning, I felt around on the floor for a pair of shoes, found a comfortable pair and carried them downstairs before putting them on. Immediately, I felt something inside both shoes. I love that kid. Life as a Dad. 8221; Usually, that inv...
