Another London Blog: Babylon
http://anotherlondonblog.blogspot.com/2014/02/babylon.html
Tuesday, 11 February 2014. Sunday 9th February saw the feature-length pilot episode of cop drama Babylon. On Channel 4. If you're reading this soon after the event, then you can still watch Babylon. Or that his character would be anything other than a very negative caricature given that the show was directed by Danny Boyle. By way of Modern Family. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Surely London does not need Another Blog? Well, probably not, but I thought I'd write one anyway! Strange Maps Big Think.

Another London Blog: On the obvious lure of unions
http://anotherlondonblog.blogspot.com/2014/02/on-obvious-lure-of-unions_11.html
Tuesday, 11 February 2014. On the obvious lure of unions. This is based on something I first posted in September 2010. You don't get to keep your job and lifestyle the way it is by rolling over. Everyone else saying "that's not fair, we can't protect ourselves so why should you? Will not make union members think "oh yes, how right you are". Having witnessed what has happened in other industries which no longer have union representation, they will only redouble their efforts. Have a worthless pension?

Another London Blog: Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat
http://anotherlondonblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/ei-incumbit-probatio-qui-dicit-non-qui.html
Friday, 2 August 2013. Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat. An interesting letter appeared in Spanish daily newspaper El País. On Wednesday which sums up quite nicely my thoughts about the reaction to the Santiago de Compostela rail crash. I feel it is worth reading in its entirety, and so I hope that neither the author nor El País. Will mind that an inconsequential English blogger has translated and republished the letter in full below:. It is necessary to ascertain why all the signal-activate...

A Bellringing Kerfuffle | Rev'd Claire
https://clairemaxim1.wordpress.com/2015/02/16/a-bellringing-kerfuffle
A full time priest in the Church of England contemplates everyday life as a parish Rector – views are all my own. Finding my Janathon leg. Once an engineer…. February 16, 2015. It’s about a year since I started learning to bell ring. It’s a highly addictive activity, and also extremely convivial. I am lucky to have access to a very happy bunch of welcoming, helpful ringers. Set me back a few weeks, but I’m hoping it’ll give me better control in the end. Rural Church – End times or change? Doesn’t r...

Not quite proper | Rev'd Claire
https://clairemaxim1.wordpress.com/2015/02/18/not-quite-proper
A full time priest in the Church of England contemplates everyday life as a parish Rector – views are all my own. Finding my Janathon leg. Once an engineer…. February 18, 2015. When I grow up, I really will do it properly. Whatever it may be. I have a long and chequered history of not doing things quite right. I made it into orchestra by playing a less common instrument, and never did reach the dizzy heights of Grade Eight, even though that was the basic requirement. No-one seemed to resent it. Growing u...

How NOT to be a Rector | Rev'd Claire
https://clairemaxim1.wordpress.com/2014/03/23/how-not-to-be-a-rector
A full time priest in the Church of England contemplates everyday life as a parish Rector – views are all my own. Finding my Janathon leg. Once an engineer…. How NOT to be a Rector. March 23, 2014. I’m not perfect. I often get things wrong. However, I think I have plumbed new depths of What Not To Do as a new Rector….and I offer the resulting lessons to Incumbents, Associate Clergy, Curates, Ordinands and those considering Ordination….that you may not Do As I Have Done. Ordered neatly on the altar. Oh bl...

Once an engineer…. | Rev'd Claire
https://clairemaxim1.wordpress.com/once-an-engineer
A full time priest in the Church of England contemplates everyday life as a parish Rector – views are all my own. Finding my Janathon leg. Once an engineer…. Once an engineer…. I moved from the power station to headquarters, long before I earned any right to call myself a power station engineer. But those two and a half years informed the rest of my time in the industry. I was never as intimidated again as I was those first few weeks. And how did I get here? That’s another story…. Enter your comment here.
