The article has revealed that 72% of heterosexual adults say that they would not change their opinions about their "favorite" athletes if they found out the athlete was gay. Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Why is it that we are so fascinated when someone states that a person is the "first" woman to do something or the "first" African-American to do or be something? I realize that some people see this as the person being a pioneer or trailblazer of some sort, but I view this a bit differently. Let's think about this. It is great to celebrate the achievements of others, but if we continue to label people, truly creating an environment of inclusion is still quite far off.
