While in the Holy Land: Jordan
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008/06/jordan.html
While in the Holy Land. Saturday, June 14, 2008. I recently got back from a few days in Jordan. The border crossing took a long time but not as long as Egypt, and Jordan didn't give us stamps so we all have random "leaving Israel" and "entering Israel" stamps. I wonder if anyone will wonder someday what I did in this illicit period of time? Oh, did I mention that I was wearing a skirt? Call the people and teach the people. The people, and. Ramon responded, "One from a fig tree." And it was amazing to...

While in the Holy Land: The Triclinium
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008/06/triclinium.html
While in the Holy Land. Sunday, June 15, 2008. June 16, 2008 at 2:20 PM. I was curious as to how they did the washing of the feet. I hosted this year my own triclinium dinner and wanted to include washing of the feet, but thought it might be to sacred. How did they do it, while still making it sacred? I would love your thoughts. May 6, 2012 at 11:36 AM. That video did a great job explaining the triclinium! May 8, 2012 at 1:37 PM. May 10, 2012 at 5:24 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

While in the Holy Land: Jordan Rift Valley
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008/06/jordan-rift-valley.html
While in the Holy Land. Thursday, June 5, 2008. Today I went from over 2700 feet above sea level down to 1300 feet below sea level. Where is the only place in the world that you can do this? Dead Sea experience: coming down to the edge of the water, it appeared that everyone was standing in the water because it was only up to their mid-torso. Not so: the bottom drops away rather quickly, but you stay afloat! It could have been hundreds of feet deep and I'd never know! And then we discovered the differenc...

While in the Holy Land: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words - except in Galilee, where it's two thousand!
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008/06/picture-is-worth-thousand-words-except.html
While in the Holy Land. Thursday, June 5, 2008. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words - except in Galilee, where it's two thousand! Let's skip the pictures - eventually I'll post them on flickr, but instead I'll create a syntax snapshot set from Galilee. Boat Ride O'er the Sea of Galilee: this picture is from a wooden boat. The Sea of Galilee is actually a lake (Lake Kinaret) and so is not salty. This is wonderful because when a wave hits your face and goes up your nose, it doesn't hurt! For other foreign ...

While in the Holy Land: April 2008
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
While in the Holy Land. Sunday, April 27, 2008. Off to Israel in 2 Days! Some interesting pre-departure notes:. Instead of having our Sabbath on Sundays, we will be having them on Saturdays because that's when the Jewish Shabbat is. I am not sure why but we will also never have lunch on the Sabbath. Probably some custom I am unaware of. On the packing list I was told to bring a large scarf because "some sites we will visit will require women to cover their heads/hair.". I think it will be great fun!

While in the Holy Land: May 2008
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
While in the Holy Land. Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Hezekiah and a Tunnel. But how beautifully the Lord kept his promise! This solution was probably not foreseen by the people; how could the Lord possibly save them, they may have thought. But the Lord found a way. The Lord always has a way. When He promises us something, He always comes through. With your purchase. (As opposed to just bartering on price and trying to reach a number, both of you thinking the other is trying to cheat you.). I also tried out m...

While in the Holy Land: June 2008
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
While in the Holy Land. Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Do you know what Temple Mount is? The Temple Mount is only open to non-Muslims at very specific hours and has a pretty strict dress code. But I passed! They let me on the other day, and I touched the Dome of the Rock. It's beautiful - blue mosaic tiles on the outside and a huge golden dome. I also saw Al-Aqsa mosque (another mosque with a silvery/gray dome also on Temple Mount). It was way cool! Sunday, June 15, 2008. Saturday, June 14, 2008. We went to Pet...

While in the Holy Land: The Difference between Boys and Girls
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008/06/difference-between-boys-and-girls.html
While in the Holy Land. Saturday, June 14, 2008. The Difference between Boys and Girls. Think we should keep all women covered up completely and in the home, where they. I turned around and said to him, "Well, I. Think we should re-institute adult male circumcision! He blinked at me a few times, and I continued walking. A few minutes later I hear him mutter, "Well, that'll never catch on.". Oh my goodness that is HILARIOUS! What a dumb boy. June 16, 2008 at 2:21 PM. Man he's gonna have a hard life.

While in the Holy Land: Temple Institute
http://sariah-holyland.blogspot.com/2008/06/temple-institute.html
While in the Holy Land. Friday, June 6, 2008. It was very interesting to hear their opinions on the matter. The guide I had was a girl about my age, and was very strong in her desire to have a temple again. However, only Levites can officiate in the Jewish temple. But what authority do they have beyond lineage? It also opened my eyes to how other places and religions, etc. seek for righteous things, and want to come to God. Many times I wanted to say something. No! But we do have a prophet! Should you si...
