Stumbling blocks to stepping stones

Stumbling blocks to stepping stones. A way of extending the spiritual autobiography project I have been engaged in for over 30 years and exploring where Quakers and my Inward Teacher have taken and are taking me. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Quaker Alphabet Blog 2015 - K for Keep. Then, as has often happened before, during meeting for worship a word, an idea, was given to me. All I had to do was Keep going, Keep on, not worry about Keeping up and Keep awake! Tuesday, June 30, 2015. How often do we do this?

Stumbling blocks to stepping stones. A way of extending the spiritual autobiography project I have been engaged in for over 30 years and exploring where Quakers and my Inward Teacher have taken and are taking me. Friday, May 08, 2015. Quaker Alphabet Blog 2015 - H for Hope. Speaking as someone who has often been tempted to give in to depression and despair, part of me is surprised that I now find myself called to hope - and not just to stand still in that hope but to travel hopefully. Gilkin's Geegaws: February 2010

http://gilkinsgeegaws.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Sharing some of my crafty things and thoughts. Saturday, 27 February 2010. More of the patchwork of my crafting life. Last time I said that I would write about knitting next but when I thought about it I realised that first I would have to say something about my patchwork history. Most of what I made was given away and I have very few photos but this shows two cushions from 1979 [and a rather lovely baby]. I stuffed the ball with kapok and in the centre put a bell in a plastic cage, which worked up to a ...

Still Life: February 2009

http://heather-still-life.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Because, although our Meetings are (mostly) silent, they hum with the life of the members gathered in an expectant silence. Why 'Still Life'? Because I am pretty much bedridden, and I spend the majority of my time not moving about. Why 'Still Life'? Because, despite my illnesses and the curtailment of my former activities. this is still Life! Monday, 23 February 2009. This was of enormous comfort to me, as my M.E. means that sometimes I can really struggle to find the words I need. It also fo...On anothe...

Wish I could’ve been there. Micah says “walk humbly”. On: March 22, 2009. I’ve been thinking a lot about light and darkness. Of course they are powerful metaphors, based on the primeval fear of darkness. Good = light = daytime, when predators can be seen from a distance. Evil = dark = night-time, when predators can sneak up on us. I want to be an “outdoor gal” spending time in nature. I ran across an article on the Chabad. Website recently about “ Mitzvot and Customs. 8221; And it says:. Illuminating the...

Wish I could’ve been there. On: April 17, 2009. For most of my life I’ve been alone. I’ve always been independent (it says so in my baby book! So it’s not really a problem for me. Alone does not equal lonely. Well, sometimes it does — but I’ve felt lonely in a crowd, too. My point is, I’m not used to depending on anyone else, or even having anyone else there to help if I should ask. Asking for help is something I rarely consider…. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Stumbling Strokes

Friday, 12 June 2015. In the early morning. When not even the sun had paid this hill town a visit. I woke up to mountains. That were a soft molten blue. Not rock solid with sharp peaks or edges. But gentle in form. And fluid in stance. Almost like calm waves formed on the surface of a benevolent sea. The tips of snow rising above the rest like the foaming heads of the incoming tide. While the smaller hills. Bowed low in reverence. I traced their lines from this side of the window. Did I not just see.
