The life of an elderly Londoner and her travels. London – New and Old St Pancras. Newer posts →. Travel – Isle of Man. September 13, 2016. I spotted this holiday which seemed right up my street, going somewhere new and enjoying Victorian engineering. Part One is concerned with the engineering. Since 1876 horse drawn trams have carried passengers along the promenades in Douglas. I took this one to go to the terminus of the electric railway. And rode this one back from the station to my hotel. I enjoyed th...

The life of an elderly Londoner and her travels. London – New and Old St Pancras. The Manchester Ship Canal. Travel – Lichfield →. London – The Tower. August 11, 2015. Back in London I had had the offer of free entry in July and August, normal price 22.00, so I thought I had better go and have a look taking you with me. You enter through a tower in the SW corner, this is the second one the visitor goes through. And the omnipresent ‘Shard’. You walk through another tower. Past another glimpse of the river.

The life of an elderly Londoner and her travels. London – New and Old St Pancras. London – The Tower →. The Manchester Ship Canal. August 4, 2015. Another wish, fullfilled on this trip to Lancashire, was to sail the length of the canal all 35 miles of it. We began in Liverpool at the Pier Head Ferry Terminal. Opposite, across the grass, is a royal statue and the Royal Liver Building with the Liver birds atop. In the Mersey river itself we saw the ferry on which I had sailed two days earlier. Even this in...

Sage Words Sunday – Hearth and Home | Union Homestead

One family's fumbling attempt to live the Good Life in suburbia; a story of trial and error…a lot of error! Sage Words Sunday – Hearth and Home. July 19, 2015. I didn’t want sappy, soppy, trite, or cheesy. I saved that for the cake. Then, after trawling the internet, thumbing through the bookcase, scanning the CD collection, and eaves dropping on way too many conversations, it came to me: a phrase from a Homestead favourite movie. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. This entry was posted in Sage Words.

However, trooper that he is, he kept a lid on an all-out surrender to the dastardly malaise until after undertaking his turn at Sunday morning tea. He turned down the photo op. though. HJ Ruiz – Avian101. My Backyard Visitors – All about birds – The world is my backyard! Skip to primary content. Bird Art by H.J. Ruiz. Bird Humor – Archive. May 19, 2015. Spring has been in full force stimulating birds hormones; and the product of that is quite evident from what I can see in my backyard. Either fledglings and their parents or just fledglings trying to learn the ropes about eating from feeders, also how to share these with other species. However, in previous years it was the Brown-headed ...

Survival stories of a directionally-challenged, hiking hermit. Ravensbourne National Park, Queensland – Thank You for the Music. September 25, 2016. February 1, 2017. Rare adventures with my adult daughter, Tough Cookie, are always memorable, and the great finger debacle of 2016 was no exception. I’d planned to share our gory trip this week but photographs still need sorting and the final outcome for the finger is yet to be determined. We could be twins. The likeness is uncanny…. From Pyrenees to Pennines. We went to France …. and then we came back. Snapshot Sunday: Do you prefer your street names in French … or Tamil? Almost ten years ago now, I had my Indian Adventure, when I travelled first of all with a small group of like-minded English travellers, and then solo round southern India. That’s when I started blogging, using TravelBlog. Though I later transcribed it onto WordPress. Which may be more user-friendly. A back street in Bangalore, and a few rickshaws. And here’s...

Life through my lens, and in my words. 192 BIRDS …. WHAT’S IN MY BAG? The Great White Wonder. August 13, 2015. This gallery contains 2 photos. The brown morph rock pigeon (which appears tinted as pink) at Reifel may have eluded me, but this lovely, showstopping leucistic Rock Dove at Burnaby Lake/Piper Spit took my breath away. It did a fair amount of foraging and flying with an unusually large flock of its normally-pigmented fellows. Photographed on March 21. MY PIXELS.COM WEBSITE. Liked by 1 person.
