The Swiss Family Betor

The Swiss Family Betor. Sunday, August 14, 2011. First I must start this post with an earnest apology. I have been very remiss in not updating the blog with the numerous adventures that we have had in the last five months. I promise I will begin again. This adventure, however, was one I had to write about immediately. Now that we have returned from the States, we committed to start climbing. That is one of the main reasons that we came here! And I was not about to turn down the challenge. We made our way...

The Swiss Family Betor: February 2011

http://swissfamilybetor.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

The Swiss Family Betor. Monday, February 7, 2011. What is that strange brightness? We heard that the winters here could be brutal, with weeks on end of no sunshine. Our last snow was a month ago, when the meteorologists were predicting "40% chance light snow, no accumulation." We got 4 inches. Don't even get me started about the cell phone. Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament". Been there, done that. Cell phones in Europe are not "locked", so any phone works with any plan. There were over 60 phones beggin...

The Swiss Family Betor: December 2010

http://swissfamilybetor.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

The Swiss Family Betor. Friday, December 31, 2010. Christmas - Switzerland Style. Christmas in Switzerland is a lot like the States. The stores are catching on to the commercialization, and most people take off work Dec 23 through Jan 2. Tom says the trains and his office have been empty this week. Guess everybody is off skiing! Yes, those are apples $14 each! They were big, but $14, really! Here's London broil for $11/100 grams. That works out to $50/lb. Yikes! We got the mince meat, and Tom got creative.

http://swissfamilybetor.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

The Swiss Family Betor. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Here is my latest top ten list: how American and European horse shows differ. Before all the men log out of my site, there were monster trucks too! 10 Spectators - The stadium was about the size of Bobcat arena in Charlotte, and it was at least 90% full. Not too shabby considering tickets started at $100 swiss francs each. People came in their furs and watched 14 hours of show jumping. 4 Paparazzi - Yes, these riders are celebrities, and there was papar...

The Swiss Family Betor. Monday, February 7, 2011. Don't even get me started about the cell phone. Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament". Been there, done that. I have been dreading this day for months. I obsessed over the choice of phone, and did extensive research with the help of technical articles far and wide. I narrowed down my choices, and headed off to the local electronics store with 2 hours, ID in hand, and money. I thought I was ready. Where do you travel? Where do you like to call? Calls, consultati...

http://www.betor.org/2013/11/08/shrimp-sushi

Laquo; Linda’s Applesauce. November 8, 2013 6:32 am. I’m not usually much of a sushi eater but one of my G friends posted this and it looked pretty good. Being made with cooked shrimp means I’m much more likely to try it than most of the other types of sushi. Note: the sriracha is said to be pretty spicy so you may want to adjust the amounts to taste. Sushi Nori (Roasted Seaweed). Rice (I use special sushi rice found in the Asian isle). Cook the rice (read the pack for directions). Splash of sesame oil.
