Take the Lake 5K. Running – and celebrating life. Great local running events…. As we prepare for the 12th annual Take the Lake 5K. I asked myself what makes a great running event (and how can continue to improve Take the Lake 5K? I came up with a short list of things I consider. What would you add to this starting point checklist:. The course – Interesting? Convenience – Is it close by? Easy to park, get in…and get out? Refreshments – After (and perhaps before? Take the Lake 5K. Running – and celebrating life. And on the post race refreshment table…. Leave a comment ». Even after 11 annual events – stocking the refreshment table is still a mystery for me. Some years – we run out of donuts before the last runner crosses the line – and the fresh fruit is virtually untouched. Other years, it’s just the granola bars, yogurt and other healthy stuff that flies off the table – and the race volunteers go home with boxes of cookies and sweets. May 15, 2011 at 11:53 PM.
