Tales from two countries. Tales written by a Scot, living in the US. The sounds of my thoughts. Asymp; Leave a comment. I’ve just finished reading the Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. Certainly a challenging read but I found myself quite gripped to it none the less. But when I end the book it leaves me with an unsatisfying feeling of ‘huh, will my life be over so quickly too? With such nasty grudges that last 50 years? And then I think, ‘but what would I write it on? And then going out and looking...

Tales from two countries. Tales written by a Scot, living in the US. The Old Flame and the Sea. Asymp; Leave a comment. As daft as it sounds I feel like I have cleansed myself of the turmoil that’s been going on over the past month and I’m ready to start fresh in my new city. There, it only took 4 weeks! Exploring the outdoors, traveling. Keeping fit, eating well. Reading books, particularly ‘classic’ novels. Seeing something new (either a place, a film or a person). Studying / summarizing / note taking.

Evening Visitor – piranhapics

Adventures of a new camera. September 5, 2016. One of my favourite birds will always be the hummingbird! I still can’t believe we’re so lucky to get them in the back yard here in Massachusetts. I finally got my remote release to work for my dslr and I was playing around with it yesterday afternoon, experimenting using it with my tripod. Around 4pm I set up my fantastic 3 Legged Thing Tripod. I crept back inside and patiently sat in the kitchen with the release in hand. And voila! Enter your comment here.

Week 1 Reflections – piranhapics

Adventures of a new camera. October 29, 2016. October 29, 2016. I’m officially going to call this the end of week 1. I’ve tried to think through a couple of big ideas during this week, mainly around the idea of goals and structure. First, I wanted to start with a couple of realizations I learned this week:. Option 1: pay someone to design one for us. Pros: professional look and feel, frees up time for us to focus on other aspects, industry standard, higher quality. Option 2: design one ourselves. We deci...

Tales from Two Cities | Storytelling in Nottingham & Derby
Tales from Two Cities. Storytelling in Nottingham and Derby. How to Find Us. Our regular haunts are the Voicebox (a wonderful converted warehouse that is now a centre for voice and song on the outskirts of inner city Derby) and our new venue, the brilliant Five Leaves bookshop in Nottingham (just off the Market Square in Nottingham). Sometimes we venture further afield in search of cosy, interesting, sometimes historic venues anywhere where listening to stories will be even more intriguing. Enquire direc...

How To Be Broke in London |
How To Be Broke in London. One of the best things about this diverse city is how easy it is to find something to enjoy, even when you’re broke. Here are three of my favourites. 8211; Over 60% of London is green. Strolling through the gorgeous gardens can make you forget about all the problems in the world. A pioneer in various fields. Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows — Tales From Two Valleys
Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. John Reily and son looking up. Alpine Meadows Photo: Don Wolter. John Reily, a Los Angeles businessman, who came to Squaw Valley in 1955, and looked down from the top of the KT22 ski lift into a pristine valley to the south. Squaw made a name for itself on the world stage thanks to its surprise nomination as host of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, just one mountain apart, Alpine was built with the support of local skiers and Bay Area families. Now in Second Printing!
