Tall Pines Hiker: September 2014
http://tallpineshiker.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2014. On a cloudy Monday September 29, Joyce, Kendra and I hiked to the Davis Lookout in the Salish Mountains in the Kootenai National Forest. This lookout was in the same general area as the last lookout we hiked to: McGuire Lookout. I estimate 4 to 4.5 miles. From the topo map I estimate 800 or a bit more feet. We again followed the directions in Kendra's copy of the Fire Lookouts in NW Montana. Http:/ www.summitpost.org/davis-mountain/727113. The trail is 6.5 miles to Davis M...

Daisy the cat: September 2014
http://tallpinescat.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2014. The other morning Daisy showed up with a bruised nose. How? Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Falling down on the job. Daisy spends so much time outside she is falling down on her job of keeping the house mouse free. This morning when I went to the neighbor's house to gather more fallen apples, there was Daisy. A short video of Daisy and the mouse. I'm surprised she doesn't get bitten more, especially as she tries yo sniff the mouse. Https:/ www.youtube.com/watch? An owl flew b...

Daisy the cat: July 2014
http://tallpinescat.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. For the past week Daisy has been getting at least one mouse each day. This morning I seen her come back to the house with a mouse in her mouth. Later I seen her intently checking out the side of the garage along the ground. Lost another one! My northern neighbor said she is happy Tammy didn't take Daisy. She has a mouse problem in and around her house and the mice have been getting into her four dogs' food. Daisy often goes over there to hunt mice and the neighbor is hap...Daisy...

Dropping out of the rat race and dropping back into life. I have started to collect a nice list of projects I want to work on, and I’ve even gotten started on a few of them. This page will be sort of an electronic white board where I can keep my list and jot down a few notes from time to time. 8211; need to purchase a kiddie pool, mirror, and some wood and hardware. 8211; need to start blogs for podcasts, record RCPM live music podcast, record a 60-second rant. Sunday, August 4, 2013. Going through old photos and I put together another hiking post. Sunday August 4, 2013. Patti, Gene and I hiked to the top of Krag Peak. Tall Pines Hiker: May 2015
http://tallpineshiker.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 30, 2015. Patti and Linda and I hiked to Upper Quartz Lake in the NW part of Glacier National Park. It seemed like I had been to this lake more than four times, but based on my photos this was the fourth time. The hike was 13 miles round trip. The trail goes over the Cerulean Ridge so our hike gained 1800 ft before descending 1600 ft. Of course, when we returned to the trail head we had to go back up and down the Cerulean Ridge. Bowman Lake at the start of our hike in the morning. At Quartz...

Tall Pines Hiker: October 2014
http://tallpineshiker.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 25, 2014. Upper Two Medicine Lake. Saturday Oct 25, Patti and I hiked to Upper Two Medicine Lake. This hike was chosen for several reasons:. It was opening day of hunting season and Patti felt safer hiking in Glacier Park where hunting is not allowed. As a change of pace Patti wanted to hike to a lake instead of a mountain top. We both had hiked to Upper Two Medicine Lake before. For me it was October 17, 2010. Red line was our route. The temperature when we started was 37 degrees. ...
