My vegetable garden is located in my front yard. However, I also have a well-established herb and perennial garden in my front yard just outside the house where I've interplanted heirloom vegetables from "The Tasteful Garden" this year. I did this 25 years ago and it worked out well, but have not done it since that time until this year.

All of my gardening manuals from organic gardening to Crockett's Victory Garden said not to lime clematis. Guess what? My soil is very acidic due to pine trees. This year somebody called up on the Paul Rogers radio program in Worcester, MA and asked him about clematis. He said put lots of lime on them - so I did it also - and voila!
