Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me! Three years after moving in, and the bedrooms now have curtains. (They did at least have blinds at first.) Susan requested curtains this year so that her room could be dark and she'd be able to sleep all day after getting home from her Renaissance Adventures. Very bright green, which turned out to look pretty good with his sort-of-bright blue walls. And the colors make me think of these guys:. Links to this post.

Friday, January 25, 2013. Pic #15: Piano time. Years after lessons were left behind, Susan still has piano time somewhat regularly. Recent selections include songs from Phantom of the Opera. Stuff her mom is trying ( this minuet. And various short pieces and explorations as she finds them. Here she's trying out a little Mozart sonata. (K. 545, and yes, you've heard it. Saturday, January 19, 2013. Pic #14: Angry bird! Poor Rameëndil. He's the gray one seen in this post. His beak just keeps growing. It's either a fast-growing anomaly, or he refuses to grind it down, or maybe it's both (doesn't like to gnaw on things because it grows funny? But once a month or so, it needs trimming, so I have to catch him and maneuver a toenail clipper over the end of his beak and snip it in between wiggles. Neither of us enjoys this one bit. The famous apple-strawberry crisp, from a now-quite-old newspaper clipping. I was going to type out the recipe for you, but you can find it if you just Google "apple berry brunch bake."
