Sunday, November 20, 2005. Now begins the hardest part of building a guitar.the finish. I have to start spraying the clear coats. Sunday, November 20, 2005. Applying a Grain Filler. The first step is sanding the guitar, until all the scratches are gone. I used 220 grit followed by 400 grit. Since this body is made of ash, the body will require some grain filling. If filling isn't done, then the pores in the wood will show up when the body is later sprayed with laquer. Since the laquer spraying phase will take quite a while, I thought that I would disclose some preview pics of the telecaster that I took before I started putting the clear coat on the guitar. The chrome parts are kind of hard to see, but you get the idea. This guitar plays and sounds like a dream. Now she just needs some shine to make her pretty. I can't wait for this project to be over, so I can play this guitar again.

The guitar I'm building will look close to this, but hopefully older and more worn in for character. I can't stand a brand new looking guitar; They have no mojo. Sure, I learnt to play guitar with a classical guitar and I totally recommend it for a beginner, but there are obvious things like my Fendler. Not having a tremolo bar: I cant use it :) Definitely you can play any style with it, but it really shines when jamming some blues with the neck pick. Use congestion in a sentence.
