With the success of Paramount's Star Trek: The Next Generation. Series, the owners of MGM looked around at the properties it owned which could be developed into a syndicated series. One of the titles it has was the United Artists classic Outer Limits. Choosing Canadian companies Trilogy and Atlantis to oversee production of the new series, several key people were brought in who would be instrumental in the new Outer Limits. Whilst on the trail, Gil Favor is contacted by a military doctor from a nearby ghost town. Dr Gardner (played by Les Tremayne) asks for Gil to accompany him back to the military hospital as he has a patient there he is anxious for Gil to see. Reluctantly, Gil agrees. This cult comedy series was first broadcast on the ABC network in 1982. Comprising of six episodes it was created by Jim Abrahams, David and Jerry Zucker, who had previously worked before on the AIRPLANE films. Although this series was not a ratings success, it did eventually lead to the NAKED GUN series of films (3 so far) which were popular. An interesting point: the series was repeated on the CBS network when NAKED GUN 2.5 was on release, but the tv series still did poorly in the ratings!
