Wednesday, 28 January 2015. No end to the evil. Iris Barker, 1920, Waihi. The Waihi Fire Brigade in 1905. A little before 10pm. James, who slept in the same room as his two little brothers at the back of the house, was woken by smoke and heat. He heard Iris crying out. On opening the passage door he was forced back by flames. Sunday, 5 July 2015. READER REVIEWS* * *. The writing style is a gift that takes each page out of the 'ordinary' and you could be 'there', at the event. I am hoping for a follow-up later to unveil the 'plot' on more of our forgotten stories.
