Sandie Craig Organic Artist. Recycling and money……. This entry was posted on August 4, 2012, in ponderings. National zero waste week. Yesterday while we were rock pooling in Whitley Bay with my Grandson, my daughter asked me ‘….if money were no object – would you still buy all your clothes and materials from the Charity Shops, pick up found objects, use Freecycle. And adopt animals from Rescue Homes……’. Didn’t take even a heartbeat for me to say yes! It is National Zero Waste Week. Daily I pick up bloody...

Sandie Craig Organic Artist. Woolly matters………. This entry was posted on August 13, 2012, in life, laughter, friends and family. Spent a great afternoon with the lovely and incredibly busy Nickie of Eden Gotland Sheep. At her farm, Scalerigg, situated between Renwick and Kirkoswald at the foot of Hartside Pass……….What a glorious view – I even saw the wee house at the top of Hartside and the visibility wasn’t that great. Imagine what it must be like on a clear day! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are comm...

Smells like Autumn…………… | hedgewitchandstitch

Sandie Craig Organic Artist. Smells like Autumn……………. This entry was posted on October 9, 2012, in life, laughter, friends and family. I love Autumn – what was it George Eliot said about Autumn –. My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive Autumns’. Smells are the leaves when the birds turn them over to look for insects buried beneath – loamy and pungent – like fungi……. In front of the Aga – even the steaming manure pile! But most of all the wood...

Sandie Craig Organic Artist. Posted in October 2012. Smells like Autumn……………. I love Autumn – what was it George Eliot said about Autumn – ‘Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive Autumns’. The smells of autumn are more evocative for me than the changing colours – the smell of … Continue reading →. Smells like Autumn……………. Why I love wool………. It’s never the way you remember it……. Sandie Craig Organic Artist. Nana’s Rule………………. This entry was posted on July 18, 2012, in life, laughter, friends and family. All the family groups took their own little picnic, the weather stayed fine and the kids had a great time. All ages from. Another thing which struck me was the number of Grandparents, mostly Nana’s (of which I am one) in attendance in place of working parents. I was brought up by my Granny who also worked full time in our family grocery business and she was, in my memor...My darl...

Textures | hedgewitchandstitch
https://hedgewitchandstitch.wordpress.com/2012/07/24/textures
Sandie Craig Organic Artist. This entry was posted on July 24, 2012, in ponderings. I’ve just been reading a great little book. Called Surfaces and Textures by Polly O’Neil with some fabulous and unusual. Photographs of urban and rural textures and have decided that this is my new project. For each 20 photos I take I will save one perhaps – can’t seem to find classes near enough to travel to – :0(. Cracks, faded colours and fissures then I would have a reference point to translate onto felt. Yes I think ...

Writing Ourselves Well - Blog: 09/12

I was listening to Radio Four's Saturday Live the other week when Edwina Curry came on claiming that, "Your diary never tells you you're wrong.". Maybe Edwina thinks she is perfect and never slips up? What a shame that she seems to be eschewing a safe and kind way of reflecting on herself and learning from that reflection. On the 17th of August, does just that. Kennedy goes further and appears to contradict the idea that writing can be therapeutic, although it's not clear whether she means this just for ...

There is a quote from TS Elliot which I have always been struck by: 'We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.'. Today I rather regretted the spot I had chosen, but writing with gloves on (never easy) and hat pulled down I had a go:. Saturday was spent enjoying this year's Coastival ( www.coastival.com.
