The Attic Office

Filling the space below the shingles since 2008. Thursday, October 22, 2009. Where the Writer Things Are. Is unrhyming, unmetered poetry anything more than slow prose? Are there more people writing poetry than there are people to read it? Are we writers if we're not writing? Is white chocolate really chocolate? Ps Chris Lydon's series of "Proustian" interviews with poets: http:/ www.radioopensource.org/. My favorite is C.D. Wright. Friday, August 14, 2009. First Post in a Month, Apparently. The Attic Office: July 2009

http://theatticoffice.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Filling the space below the shingles since 2008. Sunday, July 12, 2009. So it's been a while. And i figure the best way to crack back in is to drop a poem or two and run. But I'll be back soon - i'd love it if someone could give me a refresher as to how to access the g-doc posts w/ comments. Powell525@gmail.com. Through the 66’s line,. Its glaze on my glasses. And beard, first in my bag. The inexorable lightness –. Until my heels lose. Their soggy click, the asphalt. An oil-slick of offhand. Suppose the ...

Filling the space below the shingles since 2008. Sunday, December 21, 2008. I'm not sure if it is because I'm working or lazy, but I am currently only reading one book, the title of which I could not remember, but one that I recommend. I looked up the title: "The Indian Clerk" by David Leavitt. It is historical fiction, which is not really my cup of tea, but is very well written and reminds me of strolls though Oxford. The Attic Office: January 2009

http://theatticoffice.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Filling the space below the shingles since 2008. Saturday, January 31, 2009. So there's this poetry contest here in St. Louis where they pick 15 poems to be displayed inside local Amtrak cars. I'm going to submit a few un-critiqued poems, which I'll probably have to hand-deliver since they're due in the office on Monday, and I only just went over some potential poems to turn in and made sure they fit the maximum 15-line limit. Is it just me, or is hand-delivery border-line creepy? I get to be almost-late.

the attic of my brain

Sunday, April 3, 2011. WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN. A lone bull swaggered towards a small pack of musk oxens. The fight of intimidation had begun. They glared. The younger one pacing back and forth, swinging it's head, testing his chances. The old bull feeling threatened pawed the ground. His position as the alpha male was at stake. But he would fight to the end. Overtaker. I could almost feel the vibrating strings of satisfaction drifting in the air. As a teenager I was mostly bewildered by s...Snapp...
