You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. Strive to live with God. August 21, 2016. What does it mean when Jesus says to strive to enter through the narrow gate. This image, in a sense, is too good. We can easily imagine many people trying to enter through the gate at the same time with only a few being successful. But, does Christ want us to focus on the gate? Or is there something deeper here…? What if Jesus had said to us, “strive for the olympics! Here is the great irony; our catholic faith...

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. The Christian hope of the Resurrection. November 6, 2016. November 8, 2016. Does God actually seek a relationship with us? The Sadducees are known for their belief that there is no resurrection. So, in an effort to trap Jesus, they ask Jesus about this woman who had seven husbands: Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be? Follow me on Twitter. Come, Follow Me. Come, Follow Me. May We Entrust Our Worries to God. Prepare the way of the Lord.

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. Lord I need you. October 23, 2016. What is it about the tax collector that Jesus likes? Especially, since there is a pharisee also in the story that, by all accounts, seems to be a good person. Affirming his own virtue and holiness, the pharisee, prays, thank you [Lord] that I am not like the rest of [these sinners]; greedy and dishonest or even like this tax collector. The tax collector admits his struggle with sin. He knows that he has done wrong.

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. Shake off Complacency and Love God through our Neighbors. September 25, 2016. September 25, 2016. 26th Sunday Ordinary Time. Amos 6: 1, 4-7; Psalm 146,. 1 Timothy 6: 11-16, Luke 16: 19-31. Luke seems to be on this social justice kick. Last week, in the parable with the dishonest steward, we have Jesus saying to his disciples that they cannot serve both God and Mammon; mammon being the love of money. Luke is showing us that Jesus feels the same way as Am...

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. June 26, 2016. But Jesus’ journey towards Jerusalem is also a symbolic act for the disciples. He teaches them how to take up their cross by doing it himself first. Again he is resolutely determined to go to Jerusalem; the place that he will ultimately die for us. So, how do we become resolute disciples of Christ? This is something we can all ask ourselves each day? To deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Christ. June 20, 2016. June 20, 2016.

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. I praise you Lord, for I am wonderfully made. June 24, 2015. I praise you Lord, for I am wonderfully made. Do we believe these words today? Let us ask ourselves right now, “Do I believe that I am God’s beloved son/daughter? 8221; “Do I believe that I am worthy of God’s love? I praise you Lord, for I am wonderfully made. 8221; We really are “precious in God’s eyes” (Isaiah 43). I praise you Lord, for I am wonderfully made. June 10, 2015. 8221; The reason...

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. Prepare the way of the Lord. December 5, 2016. Next month many of us will make New Year’s resolutions. Some of us, looking to drop a couple of pounds after the Christmas holidays, will attempt to commit to a routine of working out more regularly. Some of us may try to go to bed earlier so that we can wake up in the morning at the same time every day. But, we just began our season of Advent, which marks the beginning of our liturgical year. Rather, these...

You are my Beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. What are we clinging to today? July 31, 2015. Our readings today challenge us to ponder this question: What are the things that we cling to today? Is it a person? Is it a place? Today Jesus is asking us two things. First, he is asking us if we are willing to cling to him. Second, he is asking us if we are willing to let go of all those other attachments that keep us from him. Every one of us here wants to follow Jesus. What are the thing...July 22, 2015.
