My journey towards greater sustainability, food independence and greater closeness with my family. Monday, December 19, 2011. December 19th, 2011. Not much to say today, I've just noticed more folks following my blog of late so I wanted to thank them. To all who have stopped by and want to keep doing so, thank you! Sure it may not be the thousands that came after my write-up in the Seattle Times several years ago, but I like this even better. Folks not looking for a quick fix, but a sustainable future.

Sinfonian's Garden Adventure: June 2011

My journey towards greater sustainability, food independence and greater closeness with my family. Saturday, June 25, 2011. June 25, 2011. So, you can imagine our thrill to see berries ripening all over my berry bed. As you can tell the boys had a blast! I think he looks happier than his brother, don't you? And to think we've got close to 100 berries left on the plants in various stages of growth! That, and the plants continue to send out runners that I train to go where I want. MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Taking my ...

http://crystabelsgarden.blogspot.com/2011/02/corn.html
My adventures in gardening. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. The corn is coming up! Today I was out spraying it with BT because I am NOT going to have cutworms eat it all this year. We had a few surprise cold days come up and I lost the watermelon, squash and spinach, but no worries because I started some more today. So, short blog, but here are a few pics of what's coming up in the garden! February 24, 2011 at 10:27 AM. Great news on the corn! April 18, 2011 at 2:34 PM. May 16, 2011 at 2:09 PM.

Crystabel's Garden: August 2009
http://crystabelsgarden.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
My adventures in gardening. Thursday, August 27, 2009. It's a squash takeover! Look at this monstrous plant! I must have killed about 100 worms on my summer squash yesterday. Squish, squish, squish. My fingers were pretty green LOL, but I have no coordination with gloves on. I'm going to try to bag the fruit the moment I see the flower open (i'll help pollinate to be sure). We'll see how that works. Friday, August 21, 2009. Corn, corn, corn. Pfft I also stuck a tiki torch into the squash/corn bed for the...

http://crystabelsgarden.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
My adventures in gardening. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Cleaning Up Day 1 and 2 - Shortest blog of mine ever! 10 minutes yesterday weeding, and 10 minutes today. A little progress! Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Wanna see something really scary? Remember that line from the beginning of Twilight Zone the movie? Ok, the grass in the yard is really long too but that's because the mower broke right before we went on vacation and we just got a new one. Will have to get the kiddo to mow that later tonight. There are 1...

Crystabel's Garden: January 2011
http://crystabelsgarden.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
My adventures in gardening. Thursday, January 27, 2011. What WAS this thing? When I picked it up I found that it's bottom half - very wormy/caterpillary like - was inside an old stalk of some small plant. I mean small like an old flower stem or even the stem of some cilantro or other herb. Sorry about the fuzzy pics but these were the best that would come out. And then of course it was squished/squashed and there were no more photo opportunities. Anyone know what it is? Wednesday, January 26, 2011. I pla...

Lou Murray's Green World. A southern California urban organic veggie and fruit garden with hens. Tag Archives: pollinator garden. Growing a garden for the soul, 28 July 2015. July 29, 2015. I grow much more than food in my garden. I also garden for my soul. I love to sit on our back deck in the morning with a cup of coffee (several cups in succession, actually) and watch the action in my back garden. The chicken coop is to the left (south) of the herb garden. Fruit trees grow beyond. This is bed #2, the ...

Lou Murray's Green World. A southern California urban organic veggie and fruit garden with hens. Tag Archives: backyard chickens. A surprisingly unproductive end of August garden, 2015. August 24, 2015. We are finally getting some food from the yard. Here are limes and the first of the Fuji apples. The Asian pears did well this year. I still have a lot of pears up high in the tree, out of my reach. Do I dare climb a ladder at my age? Sure, why not? What could possibly go wrong? Some of those apples and p...
