A daily digest of living and learning. One family's Unschool experience. Monday, September 14, 2009. Hook, Line and Sinker. So much is to be learned from silence. To illustrate this, I am going to talk about our recent fishing expedition, and all that we took in and released that day. It was more than just a few fish, that I can assure you of. We pulled in our first first. A bass, coming in at an astounding 8 ounces! And Jason pulled in the catch of the day! Sunday, September 13, 2009. Fest is over. ...

Teachers Are Everywhere!: June 2010
http://teachersareeverywhere.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
A daily digest of living and learning. One family's Unschool experience. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Two thousand Miles and Many Worlds Away. I realize that it has been an awfully long time since our last post. The good news is, we have been too busy to use this blog! In the time that we last updated to now, we have moved out of the collective, gave away nearly all of our belongings (kept books and instruments) and hopped a train to Cascadia. So many changes ahead. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Franklin's a...

Teachers Are Everywhere!: The Art of Taking a Walk.
http://teachersareeverywhere.blogspot.com/2009/09/art-of-taking-walk.html
A daily digest of living and learning. One family's Unschool experience. Wednesday, September 2, 2009. The Art of Taking a Walk. Quick, name five indigenous plants on your block. Now tell me of the five, three you could eat. Seems like a ridiculous question. There is crabgrass, weeds, and grocery stores. Why would we NEED to know about edible plants? See that. Taking knowledge, and creating of it, the sense of burden. Why would we need to know our landbase. Why should I have to learn to speak Spanish?

Teachers Are Everywhere!: Paper and Seeds
http://teachersareeverywhere.blogspot.com/2009/09/paper-and-seeds.html
A daily digest of living and learning. One family's Unschool experience. Wednesday, September 9, 2009. As an educator lesson plans, lesson preparation, curriculum, evaluations and a slew of other such teacherly things have been drilled into you from day one. Now, I have to shove all of that aside and let my own children teach me about how to help teach them. So today was refreshing, frustrating and showed me that unschooling isn't just for the kids, but for Michael and I as well. View my complete profile.

Teachers Are Everywhere!: August 2009
http://teachersareeverywhere.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
A daily digest of living and learning. One family's Unschool experience. Monday, August 31, 2009. Digestion, a lesson. Over breakfast, peaches and cream made with farm fresh peaches we got from the farmers on a family walk last night, we started talking about digestion. It mapped out our whole day. No swimming after you eat, let your food digest, you could get cramps and die! Really though, this lesson is huge. How much time do we take each day to slow down and digest? If you are interested, last night I...
