THERAPEUTIC MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT (TME). Therapeutic Music Entertainment (TME) is a musical performance or activity which, by virtue of its diversion, amusement and/or engaging qualities, promotes healing. Whether a child’s challenge is medical or emotional-psychological, TME can help them express feelings in healthy ways, build self-esteem, accept their own and others’ differences, relax, be silly, have fun, and heal. Our passion for and commitment to TME came about, quite literally, because of a smile.

When mom invited us into the hospital room for a song she said, ‘She's in a mood but you can try.’ Who could blame her with a tube in her neck and casts on both legs? She initially refused to engage or accept the rhythm shaker she was offered. Then, as we began to play and sing, she grabbed that rhythm egg and shook it with all her might. We played on as she bounced in her bed, with her mom and two nurses laughing through their tears.
