Sunday, November 9, 2008. アメリカは車社会。どこへ行くにも車を運転します。数ブロック先に行くときでさえも車を使います。まるで歩くことにアレルギーがあるかのように。でも散歩に行くのって、とても気持ちが良いものです。僕のおばあちゃんは、約6キロ離れたところに住んでいます。ときどき車で会いに行ったり、ときどき歩いて行ったりします。先週末は歩いて行ってきました。車だと片道15分の道のりを、歩いて片道1時間20分。とってもいい散歩でした。もちろん、11キロを運転するだけでは膨大な量の汚染を出すわけではありません。でも、それでもいくらかは汚染を作り出します。たとえどんなに小さなことでも、環境に良いことを実践し、汚染を減らしていく努力の積み重ねが大きな変化になります。一人一人の小さなの貢献も、合わされば大きな力になります。車を運転して行ったよりも、歩いたほうがずっと楽しかったです。散歩の途中にに撮った写真です：.
