Minimalish: Inspired Reading
http://minimalish.blogspot.com/p/inspired-reading.html
With a few other "literary" works thrown in for posterity. I do most of my reading online, especially on the topic of simplifying, consumerism, and organization. It just seems wrong to purchase books on not purchasing too many things, and though I love the idea of the library, if something really great comes along, I need it longer than 10 days. Plus,. Books that have changed my life. By Francis Chan. One of my friends posted. It was well worth the 40 minutes of my time, and I knew I had to read his book...

Minimalish: Prioritizing Relationships: The Key to Finding Joy

Prioritizing Relationships: The Key to Finding Joy. Image courtesy of Kabils on Flickr. On my Facebook page. I wrote that "'Plain and Simple As That' exists to inspire readers to find freedom from stuff and to seek joy in others." But are the two really related, or are these mutually exclusive goals? I think my frustration stems from having a breadth of relationships rather than depth in my relationships. The question then, is how do. Call my grandpa even if he doesn't remember who I am. Engage in things...

Minimalish: DIY Nightstands From An Art Deco Vanity
http://minimalish.blogspot.com/2012/01/diy-nightstands-from-art-deco-vanity.html
DIY Nightstands From An Art Deco Vanity. Disclaimer #1: This is not a unique idea. It is inspired by Mandy at Sugar Bee Crafts. Only she used a desk and it required a lot more steps! Disclaimer #2: As much as I like to think I'm crafty, I'm more of an idea girl. Luckily, my husband is pretty handy when it comes to implementing my brilliant. So anyway, I've been looking for the perfect. Last Wednesday, I picked up this little gem at Precious Cargo in Fayetteville, AR. January 23, 2012 at 3:32 PM. Mylon ha...

http://minimalish.blogspot.com/2012/05/minimalish-moms-secret-mothers-day-wish.html
A Minimalish Mom's (Secret) Mother's Day Wish. My mom, with her mom. and HER mum. The British Blood in me. Sunday is Mother's Day. are you ready? During lunch today with my dearly beloved and our two beautiful little grumps, I was given the opportunity to share my Mothers' Day wish list. CRUD! Why didn't I think to update that? So what would this minimalish momma like for Mother's Day? A little something from nature. Would be quite lovely. Flowers for my table are nice, but a potted plant. My little geta...

Learning Muscles | mistergough

Stuff that isn't elsewhere. September 25, 2014. Weight training works by pushing muscles to breaking point and then allowing them to recover, and grow. Formal education doesn’t work this way. It supports and guides, providing children with a safe environment to acquire knowledge. We already exerience information overload, so it seems pretty likely that a couple of key skills for our future society will be the ability to learn and the ability to filter. So, how do we prepare children for this reality?

Stuff that isn't elsewhere. I blog all over the place – for my work, for others, for projects. But this is where I write the random stuff. If you’re looking for themes then you could look at the following places (not all my own work, some of them just a sprinkling):. 8211; my main business. Service Design, stuff with post-it notes, making things;. 8211; a long-running blog about simplicity I write with my wife;. 8211; my visual design business. I do graphic identities and clean, simple websites;. Enter y...

Common Sense | mistergough
https://mistergough.wordpress.com/2014/08/14/common-sense-2
Stuff that isn't elsewhere. August 14, 2014. When I was growing up the adults in my life often judged me on the basis of something they called common sense. For them it was some sort of unquestionable constant. Its values helped them to assert their dominance over young people, children, me. Suffice to say, I lacked it. And the constant reminder that I lacked it contributed in no small part in my growth from an awkward, unsure child to an awkward, unsure teenager. Do they know how to hold a hammer? Cling...

Think Piece | mistergough

Stuff that isn't elsewhere. January 15, 2015. Blog commenting systems have evolved very little since their inception. One of the more interesting examples of some kind of evolution was Branch’s inline commenting system; part of the platform’s attempt to encourage thoughts-in-progress rather than finished pieces. One of my favourite ideas development approaches is World Café. Its primary focus is to promote conversation, half-formed thoughts, as a means of drawing out the good stuff. To do that it...The p...
