Java-induced meditations on the importance of indoctrination | Incarnations

https://incarnations.wordpress.com/2009/09/05/java-induced-meditations-on-the-importance-of-indoctrination

Reflections on the art and science of life. Java-induced meditations on the importance of indoctrination. September 5, 2009 in education. Taking cues from C.S. Lewis’ book. The Abolition of Man. The parental appeal to the indefensible because I said so is a perfect example of indoctrination in action. When used appropriately, and not in defense of a mere preference, parents are telling their child that there is a reality beyond the child’s comprehension or capacity for judgment. If not, then there is no ...

d a n i e l J s t o r y: Dissertation, here I come.

http://danieljstory.blogspot.com/2009/02/dissertation-here-i-come.html

If milkshakes could talk. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Dissertation, here I come. So I am starting the dissertation for my Masters in Applied Theology. I was interested in looking at the Spirit in Job, but decided that it would not exactly lend itself well to the application bit. Instead I have chosen to do 20,000 words on work/vocation in Genesis 1-5, how it has impacted in other areas of scripture and history and what resource it can supply to contemporary considerations. Blessings in your journey.

d a n i e l J s t o r y: Parenting: The Unexamined Factor

http://danieljstory.blogspot.com/2009/04/parenting-unexamined-factor.html

If milkshakes could talk. Sunday, April 05, 2009. Parenting: The Unexamined Factor. The people most responsible for the behaviour and development of kids are. their parents. So says Mary Bousted, general secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. I caught the title "' Parents to blame' for problems in UK schools. On guardian.co.uk this week and I could not help but read. Comments on the article seemed to be in favour of the notion. Kids go the way they go.whether positvely or negatively.

david derbyshire's blog: have we misunderstood the word ‘rhema’?

http://davidderbyshire.blogspot.com/2009/08/have-we-misunderstood-word-rhema.html

Sunday, February 06, 2011. Have we misunderstood the word ‘rhema’? One of the major Pentecostal denominations has a very different understanding of this word to many evangelicals and charismatics. And I think they may have a point. One of the Greek words for “word” in the New Testament is. Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Bible Words says that. Is not the whole of the Bible but individual scripture that the Spirit brings to our remembrance. I have been reading ‘ Post Charismatic? Then goes on to show how.

Meditations on Conflict | Incarnations

https://incarnations.wordpress.com/2009/09/20/meditations-on-conflict

Reflections on the art and science of life. September 20, 2009 in life. I felt like Wormwood pushed me too far while I was stewing over a conflict and accidentally led me to repentance. I was thinking about a particular conflict and how I would totally blow up at this person if one more thing happened. Then I thought about how crazy I would sound; how my threats would seem like they came out of nowhere. I had become a bottler without realizing it. However, tonight I realized that I had unknowingly become...

https://incarnations.wordpress.com/2009/10/28/rough-thoughts-on-favors

Reflections on the art and science of life. Rough thoughts on favors. October 28, 2009 in life. I don’t think we can ever repay people for favors. The desire to compensate people for granted favors is noble, but fails in at least three ways. Second, there is no way to calculate the objective value of a favor. Who determines fair compensation for a task that had been freely given? 8220;No church is perfect.”. Rough thoughts on favors. Claiming versus Receiving an education. On the nature of the PhD. On February 16, 2013 · Leave a Comment. National Archives and Records Administration, College Park, Md. Walking across the pavement with the wind whipping my hair around my face. And the contours of the clouds above wrapping the day in peace. But my dreams are elsewhere and my head is in a book not noticing. My mind is wandering and busy ever producing. Thoughts of Goring, Hitler, Dodd, Chamberlain, and the consequences of history. And wondering why nobody ever understands the mystery. Post from the Past.

Theology and Church | Scripture, Theology & the Obedience of Faith

Scripture, Theology and the Obedience of Faith. Kevin Vanhoozer Sings Sola. August 14, 2015. When in Sydney last week I took the opportunity to head out for the first of this year’s Annual Moore College Lecture. To hear Kevin Vanhoozer address the theme, Mere Protestant Christianity: How Singing. The lecture began with a question: Should the church repent of or retrieve the Reformation? Which means in a non-biological context. Having a tendency to divide into groups or factions. But, has the Reformation ...

Theology and Counseling

Navigating Faith, Health, and Healing. Saturday, April 27, 2013. A few week ago when Sam Lamda spoke in class, he spoke about intellectual development, the idea that people have the freedom to choose their actions (even if they don't realize it), and some of the different scenarios that we might face in the counseling setting. I'd like to focus this blog post on intellectual development and the idea of "brainwashing." This funny article. What In The World Do I Say or Do? James Michael Sauter 1984-2013.

A blog for aspiring Christian Writers. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Tithing in the temple. To know what it is, so we can avoid it.
