He is already definitely out of his newborn phase and so I find myself pouring over these pictures taken by Becca. From his first days home with us. (He was five days old when we took these pictures, and now he’s four months old and I’m just getting them posted now because #newbaby #summer #noschool and #busybusybusy). These pictures of Steve and Archer? I die So lucky to have them both.). Archer at One Month Old.

Places: Lake Cascade, Idaho. July 7, 2015. July 14, 2015. In case you didn’t get overloaded on vacation pictures via my Instagram. Here are some more! Aren’t you so glad? We were lucky to be escaping the ridiculous Portland heat. Goodness gracious. I am not cut out for 100 degree temps anymore. Seriously. I felt like Henry, who keeps saying over and over again, “I’m Olaf. I’m melting.”. And the water this year was incredible. It’s never been so warm! These are my grandparents, Bud and Ellie, with the gir...

On What I’ve Learned from Simplifying. February 10, 2016. February 10, 2016. Simply put: I’ve learned a lot of gratitude. For things, certainly. For people and the circumstances in my life, absolutely. Taking the time to consciously comb through the possessions in my house has also enabled me to do the same with my life and I have come to realize what a great life it is. Is it perfect? No Are there bumps and disappointments and anxieties? These past six months or so. Is this helping us? Disclaimer: My li...

Millions of Peaches, Peaches for Me. July 11, 2015. August 8, 2015. Okay, there weren’t millions of peaches. Not yet, anyway. Maybe next week? But there were millions of blueberries. And we picked like half of them. Also, who was going to tell me that Tulameen Raspberries taste just like candy? Seriously amazing. For the next few weeks I think that all my effort will have to go into getting as many of those raspberries in my belly as humanly possible. I’ll keep you posted. Usually we go to Columbia Farms.

Sassy. Savvy. Domesticity.: September 2011

Thursday, September 29, 2011. September was National Sewing Month according to Joann's. I decided to partake and challenge myself to a quilt. Michelle. Posted a quilt she'd made for a niece and I loved the design/pattern. So I used her tutorial as well as the help of other bloggers and I now have a finished product. First, I invested in the Olfa Deluxe Ergonomic rotary cutter. Plus the pinking blade. This tool alone made cutting all those squares so easy, and NO edges frayed. I found this pin. I then fol...

Purplest Pecalin: Rainbow Birthday Cake
http://purplestpecalin.blogspot.com/2012/06/rainbow-birthday-cake.html
Wednesday, June 27, 2012. My niece turned 4 years old. A couple weeks ago and due to her Poppa Rod being out of town, her mom having her final finals of college and this and that, her birthday party was delayed a bit, but it was quite a fun time when it finally happened. Thankfully, 4 is still young enough to not be upset by such things. Technically, we celebrated her birthday for 10 days. Not a bad way to go. Blowing out her candles. Photo credit: Michelle Waters. I just LOVE how it looks on the inside!

Purplest Pecalin: Bacon Maple Cupcakes
http://purplestpecalin.blogspot.com/2012/07/bacon-maple-cupcakes.html
Monday, July 23, 2012. Let's start out Monday right, shall we? Oh yes, that's right - with bacon. We all know, I love bacon. I love maple syrup. I love cupcakes. So it only seems logical that when I saw this recipe. From Picky Plate, I had to give it a go. I was soooo not disappointed. It is like the perfect bite of maple syrup covered pancake and bacon. Also, for all you skeptics out there, you can't tell me you've never gotten a little syrup on your strip of bacon? 1 yellow cake mix. 1/2 cup sour cream.
