Outlaw Farm: Summer Success

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2014/06/summer-success.html

Friday, June 20, 2014. I really must post more regularly on here as there has been a lot going on since I last wrote. The rabbits have finally started breeding. Well one of them has, but unfortunately both times she has kindled on the cage floor and the kits have died because they were cold. Partly my fault as I didn't get to them in time. I eventually want to run some small livestock over the land: I'm still not sure whether it will be goats or hair sheep. Whatever it is, it will be dual purpose for...

Outlaw Farm: Symbiosis

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2014/07/symbiosis.html

Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Symbiosis. What a great word. It means two or more entities working with each other. Our garden is becoming a symbiotic haven this summer. Firstly I planted corn, beans and squash together under the rows of hay I had put down last fall. I am experimenting with the Ruth Stout method of no till gardening, along with the Native American 'Three Sisters' method of companion planting. I have also planted potatoes and onions under the remaining hay rows. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Friday, February 22, 2013. A little soapbox time. As I have mentioned before I don't get involved in politics or religion, but when something makes me react like this, I feel I have to do something. Outlaw Farm: July 2012

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 21, 2012. And the drought continues. We haven't had any rain to speak of for about two months and the pond is looking pretty low at the moment. I'm glad we didn't get the livestock now, as it would have been a full time job to keep them cool and watered. This week it has been hovering around the 100F mark, making it hard to stay out long enough to do any work. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Two Girls and a Farm Blog. View my complete profile. Outlaw Farm: A lesson in life

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-lesson-in-life.html

Wednesday, May 14, 2014. A lesson in life. About this time of year, my life gets all consuming. It's the end of the school year and I always seem to have a hundred and one projects to complete before we can all relax for three months, or in my case, change jobs and become a full time farmer. She will miss all the end of year celebrations, and she will miss the Eighth Grade Promotion where she should have received awards for her schoolwork. But who are we praying for? Are we praying for the child that is ...

Outlaw Farm: June 2012

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 24, 2012. The other problem has been the heat preventing anymore than an hour or so work each morning. We are also experiencing a bumper crop of ticks this year, so every time we come in from the field we have to check for the little bloodsuckers. I hate them with a vengeance and really enjoy killing any I find. Future projects include a hoop house greenhouse, fed with water from a rainwater catchment fitted behind the barn. It will also irrigate the vegetable beds. I may eventually ...I als...

Outlaw Farm: July 2013

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 15, 2013. Hay hay, hay. The hay from last year is being used for rabbit litter under the cages. The rabbits are eating me out of house and home and do not care that all they are producing for me is a steady pile of manure for the garden. At the moment the buck is trying to do his part, but the two does are not recipricating. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Two Girls and a Farm Blog. View my complete profile. Hay hay, hay. Outlaw Farm: Labels

http://outlawfarm.blogspot.com/2015/04/labels.html

Sunday, April 19, 2015. First of all, I can't believe it's been so long since I posted on here. I promise to do better in the future. The reason I am posting is because of a comment I was told about yesterday that involved my son. He is a freshman at High School and currently enjoying all the new social horizons that come with moving from a small to a bigger school. Afterall, some of the biggest business folk in this area are NA. It is at moments like that, when your hypocracy shines like a beacon.

Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Death of a friend, a classmate, a great one. Death changes a person. It should. One should reflect on a loved one's life, what it meant to you. What it meant to others. Deon is primarily an oil painter painting scenes from vanishing rural America; old, unrestored trucks, garage sale detritus, dilapidated barns; recording the old sites and nostalgic bygone eras that are being overrun with urban sprawl, without romanticizing them.
