http://thesedentarytraveller.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
A BLOG ABOUT GOING PLACES. Friday, March 23, 2012. Links to this post. A Tour of the Richmond Police Station. This imposing structure was built in 1897 and served as the third county jail for Fort Bend, County, Texas. In 1996 it was renovated and became the headquarters for the Richmond Police Department. The combination has long been forgotten. Nobody knows what lies inside this safe (if anything). Compare this picture to the one I shot. See any difference between then and now? Links to this post. Around The World and Back Again: Violated: A traveler’s lost faith, a difficult lesson learned
http://ejroundtheworld.blogspot.com/2011/06/violated-travelers-lost-faith-difficult.html
Around The World and Back Again. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Violated: A traveler’s lost faith, a difficult lesson learned. I am crouched low on the carpeted steps of my apartment building's old staircase, bent over into something resembling the fetal position. There is a skylight overhead; the sun's hazy glare makes me want to close my eyes, and not have to see for a while. But instead, I take this opportunity - with head resting heavily on the step above me - to record this moment in writing. I still don...

THE SEDENTARY TRAVELLER: April 2013
http://thesedentarytraveller.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
A BLOG ABOUT GOING PLACES. Wednesday, April 24, 2013. The Apartment Time Forgot. For 70 years this apartment sat empty, abandoned by a woman before World War II. When she died at 91 years old her apartment was opened for the first time in 70 years. Much like Howard Carter opening King Tut's tomb it truly was stepping back into the 1930s/1940s complete with dust, cobwebs, a million dollar painting, and other treasures. Neither words nor photographs can describe this feeling. Links to this post.

American Heart, Brazilian Soul: McDonald's in Brazil VERY different than McDonald's in the US!
http://sbcspbr.blogspot.com/2011/09/mcdonalds-in-brazil-very-different-than.html
American Heart, Brazilian Soul. Monday, September 26, 2011. McDonald's in Brazil VERY different than McDonald's in the US! Endives, Escarole and Chicory at Brazilian Mc Donald's Salads. It's no coincidence Mc Donald's is MUCH cheaper in the US, it is also much worse, no really, taste wise and quality, it is down right poor over here, which is nonsense, because this is the land of Mc Donald's, right! Not anywhere around here, unfortunately. The quality of Mc Donald's products in Brazil has always been ext...

http://thesedentarytraveller.blogspot.com/2013/05/abandoned-homes-with-beds-made.html
A BLOG ABOUT GOING PLACES. Monday, May 6, 2013. Abandoned Homes With Beds Made. Is an explorer with a camera. Like most people he wonders what's behind that "do not enter" sign. However unlike most others who view this as a trespass warning he views it as a location for which time stopped. In his series Disciples of Decay. He explores long abandoned homes complete with furnishings and made beds. Let Niki take you past that "do not enter" sign and explore homes where time stopped after families left.

THE SEDENTARY TRAVELLER: May 2012
http://thesedentarytraveller.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
A BLOG ABOUT GOING PLACES. Sunday, May 6, 2012. Once Upon a Time in Kowloon. We've all seen the looming, oppressive metro-jungle that symbolizes oppression, poverty, hopelessness, and survival. In addition it makes a setting for a neat story. Once upon a time this place did exist in Hong Kong. It was called Kowloon or just " The Walled City." You may have seen it in 1988, when Jean Claude Van Damme starred in Bloodsport. Or again in 1993, when Jackie Chan made Crime Story. By Greg Girard with Ian Lambot.

Showcasing some wonderful photographs of abandoned places by photographer Thomas Jorian. For him it's about the thrill of the discovery which is great. I'd also want to know the story behind the homes and why they were abandoned. Stair Case in a Swiss Palace. Casa Sfondo in Italy. To learn more about Thomas Jorian's work go here. Links to this post. THE SEDENTARY TRAVELLER: August 2012
http://thesedentarytraveller.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
A BLOG ABOUT GOING PLACES. Monday, August 27, 2012. My friend shot this at Lido Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. As Hurricane Isaac churns its way over Florida some of the locals hit the beach to watch the storm. In this video an older couple casually walk on the beach probably enjoying life in Florida. I imagine they've seen many storms and aren't worried in the least. Standing on the beach as Hurricane Isaac approaches. Links to this post. Labels: Isaac. Florida Lido Key Beach Florida.
