Tales From the Orient

Tales From the Orient. Wednesday, November 21, 2012. It's never what it seems. Thanksgiving break started this morning for me. But in reality, it's not a break at all. I woke up around 9 this morning (after passing out on the couch around 3) and came home to my parent's house. My goal today, just like every other time I have come home in the last 4 months, was to finish the fence. I'll tell you: things never take the time you estimate them to take. Like graduation. I'm working on year 5. This...Awesome I...

Tales From the Orient: July 2011

http://www.theyear1447.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Tales From the Orient. Thursday, July 14, 2011. Mark Twain once said: Happiness and sanity are an impossible combination. Being the tough guy that I am, I just rolled with it: did my best to ignore it and just work. But it only got worse. I started loosing sleep because of the pain. One transfer, I got around 3 hours of sleep per night because of it. I went to the doctor, he looked at my x-rays and said: these aren't yours. Me: yes they are, I just took them. I cam straight from the radiologist. As I was...

Tales From the Orient. Monday, May 30, 2011. My thoughts usually just flow onto paper, most often jumbled and confusing. However, I have somehow managed to sit here, staring dazed at my blank screen as no words come spewing. This reminds me of a time in high school. I took Mythology class from Mr. Ormond in lieu of the required english class. I can't remember the exact details of what was required in class, but I do remember a few things. And that's what this post is gonna be about: fitting in. Alright&#...

Tales From the Orient. Tuesday, October 18, 2011. I don't set a lot of people up on blind dates. I don't really know how. I am under the impression that the persons who get set up should have more than just similar looks to be compatible. However, apparently, not everyone has this same ideal. Do you know how many times I've been set up with a girl just because "she's tall! You two will get along great! One of the Basketball players then asked me: Where do they speak perl? Needless to say, at that time, t...

Tales From the Orient. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Is this how it is when they're not out in public? A while back, I was hiking with my little sister in the mountains. I was fascinated by the scenery and the overlook of the valley. Then my sister said: hey! It's all about perspective. At least beth still calls me every once in a while. Oregon was amazing: Also full of meeting awesome friends, and being able to learn about and study marine life. that was awesome. The redwoods, family vaca. ...

Tales From the Orient: August 2012

http://www.theyear1447.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Tales From the Orient. Monday, August 20, 2012. Thou shalt not lie. That's like the 7th Commandment or something, right? It's a funny thing. Deceit is defined by Google as: The action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth. But is it really bad? Are there occasions that warrant and even require us to lie to make the situation the best possible? 1 Short, non-exciting answers. 2 words or less. (unless it's the favorite color question). So back to deceit. Girl: Well, thi...

The Littlest Steeds: Overheard By Emmy & Piper

http://twelvefeetteninches.blogspot.com/2016/08/overheard-by-emmy-piper.html

Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Overheard By Emmy and Piper. Since the girls are talking much more these days, it has been so funny to hear what they come up with. Here are a few funny examples that have happened recently. I asked as I pulled her out of the cart. My growing level of frustration must have been becoming more apparent, because Emmy looked at me and slowly said, "Oh my gossssssh.". Emmy went through a phase of only ever wanting Colby Jack Cheese, or as he calls it, "Baby Jack Cheese". In the tub, ...

The Littlest Steeds: April 2013

http://twelvefeetteninches.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 17, 2013. One afternoon, on a normal day of little importance, my brother was in his room doing something equally as unimportant. Discovering this was the case, I graciously decided to discard previous plans and give him my undivided attention. It just so happened that a week or two prior to this incident, my mom decided to replace the majority of the baseboards in the house. These boards came in long, narrow, easy-to-lift boxes and we still had one lying around. As a teacher I would be ...

The Littlest Steeds: September 2013

http://twelvefeetteninches.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 7, 2013. Reign of the J's. As we began to tell family members about the pregnancy, I thought it would be cute to make my announcement in book form for Josh, and Matt's upcoming birthdays. (Again, before we knew about the twins). For those who were not born in the Snow family, a preface is needed in order to understand the end of the story. Here is a copy of the story. So this one time in April, I found out I was pregnant. But, the timing was convenient considering that we had just gra...

The Littlest Steeds: February 2013

Wednesday, February 20, 2013. In a hole in the ground, there lived two humans. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.". Yet in this case, it actually is very similar to the first two descriptions. Our sign out front. Perfect wedding gift from our friends). With all these amazing qualities, I am shocked we were able to score such upscale housing.

Sunday, May 4, 2014. Many years ago, when my siblings and I were not the angelic beings we are now, my mom used to wonder allowed (in her moments of great frustration), why we were not "more like the Hales.". The Hale family was in our stake, and were back then (and still are now), the closest a family can be to perfection. All seven of their children got along, and were best friends with each other. Summer, Autumn, Spring, Winter, Season, Rainy. Just days away from my delivery, I struggled to wrap my he...

Friday, October 19, 2012. Parsnips and Old Ladies. When you have one parent who enjoys plays and musicals, and another who appreciates classic literature and ancient works, you find yourself at the Shakespeare Festival. And Pirates of Penzance. Which she innocently repeated as Parsnips and Old Ladies. Last August, me, Kevin, Andrew and my dad were able to make a "drive through" version of the Festival. We attended two, same-day productions, The Glass Menagerie. And Romeo and Juliet. This year, my parents...

The Espinoza Family: December 2011

http://meghanmicah.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 6, 2011. These past couple weeks we have been able to have lots of fun celebrating the holidays. This Thanksgiving we celebrated two days in a row by first going to the zoo with our nieces and nephews and then by celebrating with lots of food! I made two recipes, my green bean casserole (a yearly tradition), and a new one, Meatballs! And my friend introduced me to the recipe for the meatballs, it includes chili sauce, and grape jelly! 1 jar grape jelly. Have a great day! And so he does.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Its been 2 weeks since we've been back from our cruise, so it is definitely time that I finally post about it. Micah and I went on a Carnival cruise to Baja Mexico. IT WAS AMAZING! We arrived in California on Monday morning, and we were happily surprised to find that everything just fell into place perfectly for our travels and arrival. Everything from the gate, to baggage claim, to arriving early and getting checked in quickly just worked out in our favor. And you could tell eac...

1857 The year that Shook India. May 6, 2007 · 12:31 pm. Inspirational, romantic but ultimately doomed to fail, 1857, writes. Was the last gasp of old India. India is as confused about 1857 today as it was when it happened. What was 1857? India’s only armed national uprising? A mere Sepoy Mutiny? The failed First War of Indian Independence as Savarkar asserted? A disjointed, haphazard attempt by dispossessed rulers and local chieftains to reclaim lost authority? Visualise the shadowy Maulvi of Faizabad, d...
