B[ooher's History of Graphic Design class ]log. Flower Globe (2001-2006)–Takashi Murakami. September 9, 2013. I was walking through Soho and I spotted a few Murakami pieces being sold in a gallery, most notably Flower Globe. Even if I wasn’t familiar with this artist, I think I would have been drawn in by the bright colors and cute shapes. The design looks like it’s painted onto a sphere protruding from inside the frame, but I assure you, it’s flat! NY Art Book Fair at PS1. Blog at WordPress.com.

B[ooher's History of Graphic Design class ]log. Golden Gate – Charles Sheeler, 1955. September 9, 2013. I went to the Metropolitan Art Museum and this painting by Charles Sheeler caught my attention. The great contrast between the high chroma and low chroma colors, together with the unusual perspective looking up from the bottom of the bridge towards the top and to the sky, gave me a striking impression. B[ooher's History of Graphic Design class ]log. Laquo; Golden Gate – Charles Sheeler, 1955. Gustav Klutsis, Let’s Fulfill the Plan of Great Works (1930). Flower Globe (2001-2006)–Takashi Murakami. September 9, 2013. Murakami uses perspective to great effect to make Flower Globe appear three-dimensional (there are also sculptural versions in 3-D.) This is interesting, especially since Murakami is the founder of the Superflat postmodern art movement, which emphasizes a lack of dimension. Roberto Burle Marx...

Picking at the bloated carcass of geek culture.occasionally! The Occasional Scott Brown. The Preservation of an Untainted Idea. On January 12, 2013. 8220;You should absolutely not see the Hobbit. In fact I’m calling you now.”. This was a text I received from a good friend upon informing him of my Wednesday night plans. I know you may be thinking, “Why hasn’t Scott seen the Hobbit yet? 8221; And that is a good question. Have I lost my obsessive nature in the nearly two years since I posted? And it’s...
