I never used to rest more than 4 days after a heavy workout or a meet.but after The USAPL meet I got some voice work and auditions I had to focus on.then I was in a "Lazy Bag". So today, I went in to do heavy weights from 2.5 inches off the chest from a dead stop,no bench shirt.to see if I had lost any strength after last Saturday's meet. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. If I said I was hitting the gym daily- or at all! I havent lifted since the Big World meet, the 15th! A record in lethargy for me, and most garden slugs ). Saturday, March 31, 2007. Good Heavy day workout! On the pin presses I did 315X6 405X3 405X2 425 445 445 445, at or a smidge above chest-RAW! Then, to reverse band benches using the small purple bands,there I did 500X2 515X2 535 535 535 and then 545.the 545 was hard and really pounded the triceps! Left the bands on and did partial rack deadlifts below knee .545X2 for 4 sets.then took off the bands and did one 500 and one 545 rep. Nice hour and 15 min workout.surprise! I beg my pardon? I discussed with Nancy .that it's about time for us to plan our Olympia meet strategy.I have a few goals I'd like.getting BACK into my weight class,and getting a 534-540-or 550 OFFICIAL WABDL World bench record (breaking my own 530).recent workouts show that to be possible.I might tack on the deadlift too,altho,I'm training that only lightly and cautiously. Lately I've been guilt tripping myself cuz I've missed 2 mid week "Band" workouts.and have been been doing the usual going to friends houses for Holiday fare,lotsa Carbs and wine.and wine .and wine.NOT the way to stay strong and healthy.at least to the extent I'VE been doing it!
