Charlton Stitcher: Playing with pixels, windows and bridges
http://charltonstitcher.blogspot.com/2015/07/playing-with-pixels-and-bridges.html
Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Monday, 27 July 2015. Playing with pixels, windows and bridges. I'm going to eastern Scotland and the Orkney Islands soon and I'm going to take print outs of some images that I've generated as a result of the Pixeladies. I recently found myself buying a small selection of threads from Patricia Wood of Mulberry Silks. I'm still trying to...

Charlton Stitcher: December 2014
http://charltonstitcher.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Sunday, 28 December 2014. Cotswolds and New Year greetings. Before Christmas, I was so busy preparing for the arrival of family visitors that my intended post didn't appear. We had a wonderful time - busy, noisy and great fun and the grandchildren were a delight as always. Friday, 19 December 2014. Flavour of the year. It has seemed thi...

Woven in the Land: slippers and ferals
http://wovenintheland.blogspot.com/2015/01/slippers-and-ferals.html
Woven in the Land. Tuesday, 20 January 2015. Dad was here last week. He was lecturing at the Albany Summer School on Australian mammals. This time Mum stayed in Perth with my sister and cooled off in the pool to escape Perth's summer heat. Down here the weather was lovely, no pool necessary. My sister sent us an image of Mum in her new floral pinky red bathers and big floppy hat. Dad said wow! Mum said no I am spoken for. They have been married for fifty eight years this month. These figures are all esti...

Woven in the Land: March 2014
http://wovenintheland.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Woven in the Land. Monday, 10 March 2014. I was in Perth a week ago. It was hot. I stayed with a friend. We walked down the beach with her old dog. Slowly. The beach was crowded with dogs and people, all shapes and sizes and colours. Mostly walking. Dogs playing and splashing in the shadows. The calm water was nearly empty of people. We watched big brown dogs collect together, then a group of small pale dogs sniffed as their humans chatted. They agglomerated then dispersed. A special dog gravity. The Tib...

Shreds and Patches: June 2011
http://shredsandpatches.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 28 June 2011. Imaginitive use of Drunkard's Path block. One of my p&q pupils has a friend in Ontario, who sent her this table runner. It's actually very simply constructed, using Drunkard's Path blocks in an imaginitive way to produce a very strking design. The detail on the right shows how it's constructed. Twelve Drunkard's Path blocks are set with six four-patch blocks and triangles at the edges. Clever, eh? It would make a lovely Christmas hanging or table runner. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Woven in the Land: Balijup in Spring
http://wovenintheland.blogspot.com/2014/10/balijup-in-spring.html
Woven in the Land. Tuesday, 7 October 2014. I returned to Balijup last week. Having only seen the landscape under the summer heat and walked over dry lakes I was keen to see the changes after some rain. I had window of opportunity and I took it. This is what I found. Water in all of the lakes. Even a few ducks and herons around. Of wetlands there. I still find it amazing. Beautiful golden button flowers carpet the ground on even the badly salt/alkaline affected lakes. The reflections were to be savoured.

Shreds and Patches: January 2008
http://shredsandpatches.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 25 January 2008. The Jewel-Bright Sampler Quilt. For this Sampler quilt, the theme was predominantly reds and greens in jewel-bright colours. There are fifteen blocks set on point and joined with sashings and posts. The triangle in-fills round the edge are a Turkey red print, a repro fabric I bought for another project which I never got round to. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Shreds and Patches: June 2007
http://shredsandpatches.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 19 June 2007. While we were on holiday, Alice beguiled a wet day by creating two patterns which, she thought I could make into quilts. I made the first one into this cushion. This is Alice's original art-work on A4 card. I photocopied it in monochrome and enlarged it to A3 size. I marked the outline of each shape using a medium black felt pen and identified the colour on each one. Labels: Brown House Quilts. Thursday, 14 June 2007. Quilts from the Alhambra.
