Threshold Singers of Southern Oregon began in 2003 under the direction of Sarah Seybold (former hospice nurse) and I’lana Cotton (music teacher and composer) who brought an ideal combination of skills and experience to the beginnings of this choir formed as part of a national Threshold Choir movement begun by Kate Munger in California. Thresholds | Instilling Hope, Promoting Change
Thresholds provides effective interventions to improve the health and safety of those we serve. We have operated programs for the treatment of alcohol and other drug problems since 1985. Some Thresholds services are part of a system funded through and offered by the Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Heatlh. If you wonder if there might be a problem, there probably is. If someone else thinks there might be a problem, there probably is. Individual, Family and Group Counseling.

To provide comfort through music to those who face illness. It was so nice to see and hear all your beautiful voices. When the nurse allowed us into my Dad's room (he had just had a procedure), he gestured that he really appreciated the song (he can no longer speak) and smiled for the only time that day. Offering songs to those on the thresholds of life. In Orange, Durham and Chatham Counties. We sing to calm and comfort. We sing for people who are dying and people in coma. We sing for newborns. We sing at the invitation of patients, families or caregivers. We sing at bedside in hospices, hospitals, nursing homes, private homes. Anyone present is welcome to sing along or simply listen. We usually sing in pairs or small groups, for about 30 minutes. We respond flexibly to the needs of the moment.
