There is no book so bad…that it does not have something good in it. My 12 year old daughter asked me the other day to give her an example of an oxy-moron. She didn’t ask me to explain what it was, she knows that, she asked me to give an example. And, boy, is it ever harder to give an original example of an oxy-moron than it is to explain it. There is no book so bad…that it does not have something good in it. Innocence. The definition that resonates with me is, “…the absence of guile.” Guile means “…treacherous cunning; skillfult deceit.” To be beguiled means you are so enchanted by a skilled liar that you are trading your hours, your days to engage in a useless pursuit that, on the surface, feels pretty darn good. Like watching tv or looking at Facebook. What is it about that colourful, squawky box or the endless scroll of status updates?

Monday, March 21, 2011. Last week, I made it to yet another concert. Wednesday night Eli "Paperboy" Reed. And the True Loves made down here. I was pretty excited since he is either in the Northeast or touring in Europe. He swung through Dallas on the way to SXSW. The concert was at a tiny venue called the Loft. It would have been like if Dream Theater and The Dead Kennedys were opening up for James Brown. That is how different the three styles were between the bands. First up was Lite. Links to this post.
