Tim Keller: Colophon

http://timkeller.me/about

My name is Tim Keller. I guess I’d describe myself as a Web Developer and Photographer, even though I play a Media Executive on TV. Well ok, not really I make a TV show. Well, I help make a TV show. So I’m involved in media. It’s actually quite difficult to describe I’m the General Manager of Jungle Beat Animation. Which means I co-ordinate a team of 50 people, across four cities, working on story, animation, delivery, finance, and marketing. 2015 MacBook Pro 15. Canon EFS 18-135mm lens.

Tim Keller

January 1, 2013 Permalink. I loved this year. That’s not to say it wasn’t extremely difficult at times, or that some singular great thing happened. It was just a really good year. I wrote at the end of 2011 about my goals and objectives. For the year, and they were fairly audacious. This year at Umoya we re-wrote most of staffroom. Hired some wonderful new. And deployed our first two international sites. Welcomed a furry friend into our family, and celebrated three years with my wife. At the outset, my g...

Tim Keller: Some Freedom

http://timkeller.me/2013/10/11/some-freedom

October 11, 2013. Thanks to Derek Keats. It has emerged that the South African Department of Basic Education. Has selected Microsoft Office as the exclusive teaching environment for the high school computing course, and Delphi as the programming language for the programming subject. There’s so much obviously wrong with this decision that it feels degrading to even participate in the debate. Honestly after reading Circular S9/2013. Actions speak louder than words, folks. The company that currently owns De...

Tim Keller: My First Mac

http://timkeller.me/2014/01/18/my-first-mac

January 18, 2014. I often feel a pang of regret that I came to the Mac so late in its return to popularity. My corner of the internet is littered with epic stories of the Mac in the 80’s, heroric tales of the dreadful 90’s and the renasiance from ‘97 into the early 2000s. I made a menu appear at startup through what I thought was some impressive autoexec.bat hackery. But as I read Stephen Hackett. Years later I would use a Mac for the very first time. It was 1999 and we were at Legoland.

Tim Keller: Rebooting

http://timkeller.me/2014/01/13/rebooting

January 13, 2014. Most years I spend a couple of days in December planning for the year ahead. That process usually. Results in a blog post detailing my broad goals and ideas for the year ahead. This year is a bit different. After five years at Umoya and seven years working on Staffroom full-time, I’ve found myself facing a fresh start in a completely new job and in a totally different industry. I’m now working at Sunrise Productions. As a Senior Developer. So here’s to the next chapter.

Programming contest experiences, odds and ends of Google happenings and other random things blogged by Marco Gallotta. Sunday, September 30, 2012. Torn between Cape Town and SF Bay Area. The only job I have ever worked in South Africa was as a packer for Woolworths. But more frequently I am asked when I'm moving back and why would I move back. I came here to work for Facebook, a position one simply cannot find in South Africa. I have since moved to mobile gaming startup. Posted by Marco Gallotta. SA is v...

Programming contest experiences, odds and ends of Google happenings and other random things blogged by Marco Gallotta. Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Returned receipt of my H-1B petition, so I gave my official notice. This is my final week at Yahoo! On Monday I start an exciting journey with Asana. They're working on task management, which is the boring part. The exciting parts are the people, the tech and the culture. I had been talking with them since long before the Yahoo! So why task management? He was the f...

http://marco-za.blogspot.com/2010/05/long-overdue-update.html

Programming contest experiences, odds and ends of Google happenings and other random things blogged by Marco Gallotta. Monday, May 31, 2010. It's been a long 10 months since my last post, so an update is long overdue. So, what have I been up to all this time? On Wednesday, I leave the country for four months. I'm starting a second internship at Google Zurich, working with my previous mentor this time on the Google Calendar backend. I have a vague idea of what I'll be working on there and I must s...While...

Programming contest experiences, odds and ends of Google happenings and other random things blogged by Marco Gallotta. Friday, October 31, 2008. Juniors in the South African Computer Olympiad. A concern I have always had with the South African Computer Olympiad (SACO) is the lack of juniors (grades 10 and below) making it through to the third round and eventually the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). A glance at the SACO winner archive. Why do we have this problem? I have some other plans to f...

Finally my presentation was underway. The paper I presented, titled "Challenges Running a Computer Olympiad in South Africa" is available here. And my slides here. It went well and timing was spot-on 20 minutes. The questions that followed were most interesting, although I must admit I have forgotten most of th...

Programming contest experiences, odds and ends of Google happenings and other random things blogged by Marco Gallotta. Sunday, February 1, 2009. After completing the meat of my background chapter in December, I spent the most part of January working on a prototype for my masters project. So now I get to start showing off all my pretty pictures. :). First of all, I should mention that I am writing an extension for VMD. Then finally, VMD is a very feature-full tool and least of which you can do is rotate t...

Programming contest experiences, odds and ends of Google happenings and other random things blogged by Marco Gallotta. Thursday, December 11, 2008. Homebrew Misadventures | Tim Kelleher

I found it appropriate to use one of the Russian River glasses to review this beer. The original gravity ended up at 1.085 on brew day, and finished up at 1.010. At a whopping 9.8% ABV, it’s definitely my biggest beer to-date. Appearance: A wonderful orange color. It might be one shade darker than the actual Pliny the Younger, but …. Pliny the Younger Clone.
