Demasiada: March 2006

Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Grandpa kept live crickets in the refrigerator in five-gallon buckets for fishing. I wondered why they didn’t jump out. I sometimes got up at 4 in the morning to go with him. I was really squeamish about baiting the hook, and grandpa always did it for me. My grandpa owned a place in Mexico Beach, Florida. We drove down there a couple of times for vacation when I was a kid. If Grandpa hadn’t let us use his place, we would never have gone on vacation. My grandpa loved his cows....

Juxtapositions and Oxymorons: March 2006

Sunday, March 05, 2006. Happiness is Lots of Balloons! The kids and I worked a city council campaign last fall. A couple of days before the election, our candidate generously gave my kids what remained of her balloons; a bag of about 1,000. They are really nice too, the big 12" ones! James and Valerie were delighted. If you are a kid, you can NEVER have too many balloons around. We still have about 1,000 balloons left over from my husband's campaign, but these are a happy bright yellow.

Sunday, July 23, 2006. When our troop was checking out of Camp Emerson two weeks ago, I asked the commissioner if by chance I had a free Wednesday in the next few weeks, could I come up as a volunteer and do the Tahquitz Peak hike (8 miles) again with one of the groups. She was delighted and said, of course! And not only that, she said, if you came up for the whole week as a volunteer, James can come for another week of camp for free! God bless you all and keep you! Friday, June 16, 2006. All about she she she. She's here now, I mean, on the outside. Clare, Sol's and Levi's first cousin on their mom's side. I'm so proud of you Jen! I am sick to see her! I just knew (and had mentally prepared) that because we were foreigners our interviewers would probably hold us to a different standard and that they were bound, at some point, to tell us something hondiculous. I will get to that in a minute, but let's just say my goal was just to make sure that by the end of the int...

Monday, November 30, 2009. June 2009: Savannah's Baptism. While there were a few activities in June, the most significant was definitely Savannah's baptism. It was such a beautiful, special day. She had been anticipating this day for quite some time and absolutely loved her "big moment". She has such a strong little testimony of Christ. Such a precious daughter of our Heavenly Father. Joel's mom bought her this beautiful dress as her gift. She looked like an angel! Sunday, November 22, 2009. We got home ...

No reason to cry over spilled milk! Friday, June 30, 2006. That a long kiss on the lips equals being gay and having sex? Yeah, I didn't know that either, but according to my 9 year old son, that is what it means. See, you do learn something new everyday. Posted by Special K @ 7:33 PM. Wednesday, June 28, 2006. I was thinking" said by a 5 year old. Owen asked what we were doing today and I told him we were going "off island" and he said "oh, I was just thinking that I would like to go to McDonalds today".
