In the Shadow of the Mountain: August 2012
http://kprts.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
In the Shadow of the Mountain. Monday, August 20, 2012. How much do you love your Wasatch? Finally, the last thing we need is to give away our precious resources to yet another big company who is not even from the US! We don't need Canadian developers taking over our forest land for their own gain. How much could they possibly care? Your purpose is to represent the people, and the people have spoken. I oppose H.R.3452 - Wasatch Range Recreation Access Enhancement Act. 316 Hart Senate Office Building.

In the Shadow of the Mountain: Risk Homeostasis, ABS packs, and Subjective Perception
http://kprts.blogspot.com/2013/03/risk-homeostasis-abs-packs-and.html
In the Shadow of the Mountain. Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Risk Homeostasis, ABS packs, and Subjective Perception. It's been a while since I've written anything, but don't worry its not because I've taken on a new sedentary lifestyle. In fact, its just the opposite, the skiing is good, the ice is thick, and the partners are many. Http:/ onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1539-6924.1982.tb01384.x/abstract. Does the big travel bike with big tires, helmet and armor provide additional safety? Yes But since th...

In the Shadow of the Mountain: October 2012
http://kprts.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
In the Shadow of the Mountain. Friday, October 19, 2012. Yosemite's East Buttress, and Utah's Orin Hatch. Pitched off 2 times. Followed by kevin taking the 5.5 ramp to the money 5.7 vertical pitch. Then I finished it off with 280 ft. of 5.7 to the ridge of El Cap. About 2000ft off the valley floor, 1000ft up the route. It's actually in direct contradiction to the newest, most up to date forest plan? Why didn't you mention this senator? Is it consider lying if you just leave some things out? Only 1. S...

In the Shadow of the Mountain: March 2012
http://kprts.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
In the Shadow of the Mountain. Monday, March 12, 2012. Adventure touring on the White Rim. I had a struggle between doing the powder keg this year or bailing for a trip to the desert. I only had one close friend left doing the keg. The kicker, however, was that the spouse was leaving town for the week. I like to think of it as a free kitchen pass. So at the expense of the keg, I decided to head to the desert. I almost forgot the rest of day 2! Great ride, excellent scenery, and good friends. I would ...

In the Shadow of the Mountain: July 2011
http://kprts.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
In the Shadow of the Mountain. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. SA Ridge, Benchmark set. One of the first runs of the season with my trusty running partner was up to Grandeur Peak where we noticed a beautiful ridge to the North that we hadn't ran before. As always happens on one adventure, another was formed. Just then my wife called to let me know she was still at work and it was ok that I was way, way late. Of course I complained about how much I was suffering (really? Distance: 7.72 miles. Well, I went to wo...

In the Shadow of the Mountain. Saturday, May 12, 2012. Haute Route, not to be. Day 1: Chamonix to Trient. Chamonix: La Tapia Hostel. Chamonix: The bakery 1 block. We then proceeded towards the Trient glacier via a long traverse through the Glacier de Saleina. Look back to the Argentierre glacier. Then skied out to Champex, Switzerland via the Val de Arpette. Yet another amazing and large basin that had suffered from massive wet slides. By massive its hard to represent because we don't see many that s...
