The ginseng of the poor man – The Very Best Jumper
https://twistedyarns.wordpress.com/2015/05/01/the-ginseng-of-the-poor-man
The Very Best Jumper. The ginseng of the poor man. In an attempt to mitigate some of the effects of my party life (yeah, I work too much and don’t compensate with sleep – what did you think I was talking about? Enter stage right: Ginger Jeans by Closet Case Files. Do leave me a comment🙂. Eventually, however, a week off came around, and I pulled the pile out. It was sufficiently humbled by it’s time in the quiet corner, so we agreed it was now time to get to work. Ginger jeans – halfway there. Anyways, I...
Patterns by me – The Very Best Jumper
https://twistedyarns.wordpress.com/free-patterns
The Very Best Jumper. Please find my free patterns here. Shetland Old Shale Lace Triangle. Shetland Old Lace Triangle – A classic shetland pattern in Shetland lace. A classic triangle in Shetland wool, using garter stitch, eyelet insets and an old shale lace border. Triangle of Trifles – circular shawl, great for using up odd ends of lace. The Triangle of Trifles is a triangular shawl made mostly from scraps. It’s a great way to use up those odd balls and left-overs. The very best jumper. My favorite era...
kokorimbaud – The Very Best Jumper
https://twistedyarns.wordpress.com/author/kokorimbaud
The Very Best Jumper. And just like that, summer is over. Okay, now, I understand that anybody living in a less temperate climate will laugh at me. We’ve hit 26C today, after all, and in most places I’ve lived before that’s considered a scorcher. Rigel bomber. If you look closely, you can see the wonky front, but I can live with it. I still want to make that Alabama Chanin coat. I’ve had this pattern for ages. I meant to make it earlier in the year for spring. At that time, however, my sewi...It’s ...
Temperley Knock-off – it’s done! – The Very Best Jumper
https://twistedyarns.wordpress.com/2012/11/21/temperley-knock-off-its-done
The Very Best Jumper. Temperley Knock-off – it’s done! The Temperley knock-off is done. It’s been mostly a success – there are a few minor details that could be better (like, you know, the fit) but overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and expect this to become a pair of trousers I’ll be wearing quite a bit in Summer. The next photo is a bit blurry, for which I do apologize, but I like the posture, so I’ll torture your eyes with it anyways:. Temperley Front – fuzzy. What do you say – do y...
Not knitting: Jalie Jeans in dark denim – The Very Best Jumper
https://twistedyarns.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/not-knitting-jalie-jeans-in-dark-denim
The Very Best Jumper. Not knitting: Jalie Jeans in dark denim. When I showed off my new pink corduroy jeans, I also mentioned that I made another pair almost immediately after the first one. While I was able to fix some fitting issues, other things didn’t go so well. That being said, I’m still utterly in love with this jeans. This worked pretty well, and the gaping and wrinkling is much better now:. Jalie dark denim back. Jalie dark denim zipper. You can see some of the other problems in this shot, too.

Another Sewing Scientist: Map the Sewintists goes live!
http://anothersewingscientist.blogspot.com/2013/02/map-sewintists-goes-live.html
Sunday, 17 February 2013. Map the Sewintists goes live! View Map the Sewintists. In a larger map. I had a brain wave yesterday morning while I was supposed to be herding kids out to the car for a road trip to Ontario: how can sewing and crafty people find each other IRL. And never miss another meetup? I quickly slapped together that post, and thanks to Shannon. For pointing me in the right direction, and to Gillian. For being my first tester, we're ready to go live! Here's how to participate:. I'm going ...
frk.bustad: Back to basics and basic block construction
http://frkbustad.blogspot.com/2012/11/back-to-basics-and-basic-block.html
Saturday, 24 November 2012. Back to basics and basic block construction. Remember my misfortune with Jenny? I have almost given her up, mostly because it's been such a long time since my friend helped me with the fitting, so I don't remember the meaning of all the lines and dots and arrows. Shame. It inspired me, however, to go back to basics and construct a basic skirt block. A gorgeous sewing book was published last year by a Norwegian fashion designer: Mari Melilot. The book, Syboka. For the wearable ...
Me Made May ’15: here’s to a month of positivity | Seamless
https://seamlessblog.wordpress.com/2015/04/29/me-made-may-15-heres-to-a-month-of-positivity
We Can Sew It. Me Made May ’15: here’s to a month of positivity. This started out about my now-yearly blog post about why I’m signing up for Me Made May. But has turned into something a little different. So please, humour me for a minute while I get completely personal on you all. About 6 months ago, I started taking the pill again. I last took it until I was about 21 and had no discernible issues. This time, I don’t think I’ve been so lucky. It’s more this debilitating recurring feeling that I can’t do ...
There is always room for a little more… | Sewalife
https://sewalife.wordpress.com/2014/03/08/there-is-always-room-for-a-little-more
An ageing lady with a secret mission. There is always room for a little more…. Yes that is what I thought this morning when stuffing my home-made taylor s ham with wood scraps for hamsters bedding. I think I have been more than an hour patiently filling it, making a mess all over the place…. I could have placed a tray…. Well, I m happy with the result: no fear of creatures now, and it doesn t weight a ton anymore, althought I must admit the ham stuffed with rice (it smells good already hehe) was charming...

https://willowwears.com/2012/09/30/the-madness-that-is-vogue-v8705
A dressmaker with a passion for fashion. The madness that is Vogue V8705. September 30, 2012. It feels like an age since I updated my blog, there has been a very good reason for it. I decided last month that I needed a challenge, having created a few tops recently from knitted fabric I felt the need for something a bit different that would give me something to think about and test my sewing skills. I shall share with you the journey that was Vogue V8705. This entry was posted in Dresses. Buy one get one ...
Skirting around the issue | Sil's Fab Knitblog
https://redsilvia.wordpress.com/2015/05/27/skirting-around-the-issue
Sil's Fab Knitblog. One crafty bitch…. Skirting around the issue. May 27, 2015. The last time I went fabric shopping in NYC I bought some black stretch denim in a light medium weight to make a jeans skirt. That would plug a little hole in my wardrobe and be fairly easy to make up. Why then did I just use that fabric for jeans? Not a jeans skirt, just jeans? I guess I’d seen one to many versions of Ginger Jeans from Closet Case Patterns. May 28, 2015 at 12:15 am. They turned out great! And I love the purp...

Briney Deep Designs: Women in Science Dress
http://brineydeepdesigns.blogspot.com/2015/05/women-in-science-dress.html
Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Women in Science Dress. It's no secret that I'm a crafty nerd. If you've been following this blog for a while, you've seen me make a bad passwords dress. And a number of Harry Potter items. Among other geeky stuff. I'm very happy to increase my crafty nerd cred with my latest creation, the Women in Science dress. There's a long story behind how this dress came about, and it starts with #shirtgate. The latter is how I got my hands on this awesome fabric. And the fabric is Spoonflo...
Drape experiment | Sil's Fab Knitblog
https://redsilvia.wordpress.com/2015/05/02/drape-experiment
Sil's Fab Knitblog. One crafty bitch…. In Drape Drape 2. May 2, 2015. I recently bought Drape Drape 2. And wanted to try out one of the patterns. Top number 4 is an asymmetrical side drape top that you trace off from the enclosed pattern sheet. I made the large size (since I’m not Japanese lady sized) and my bust measurement is pretty much off the chart. I used a very stretchy 4 way stretch rayon knit to try to get this to drape and fit, so I get a good drape, but this top is clingy and I don&#...Overall...

Twisted Yarns
The twists and turns my life (and my knitting) takes. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Started it. She made some beautiful, fabric bunting for the Secret Santa at the Knitters' Afternoon Tea in December. She also knitted a lovely baby cardi featuring bunting. I'm on my eighth "bunt" not bored with it yet, and am planning different ways of varying the design. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Which was crazy really, considering I am off on my big trip tomorrow! We grabbed some food from the...
