An Awareness of Type 1 Diabetes E-Learning Course. Virtual College has worked with the JDRF, the type 1 diabetes charity, and the Children and Young People's Diabetes Network to develop this free online course which is available for anyone to access. The course is aimed at all professionals who work in schools and other settings where they may come into contact with children and young people who have type 1 diabetes. A clinical research consortium sponsored by NIAID and JDRF. Recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes? It’s not all bad news. It is likely that you still have millions of insulin-producing beta cells still at work. Your beta cells are precious. START aims to prevent further destruction of the ones that remain at the time of diagnosis to try to stop your diabetes from developing further. Recruitment is now closed. START is being conducted by the Immune Tolerance Network. With support from the NIDDK.
