B After The Fact. Saturday, March 05, 2011. Book Review - The Fiery Trial - Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery - by Eric Foner. I hope to have God on my side, but I must have Kentucky Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd, was from a slaveholding family in Kentucky. Even after secession, Lincoln was concerned about anything, including emancipation, that would drive the Border States Delaware, Maryland, Missouri and his native Kentucky - out of the Union. Foner shows how Lincoln came around to ...

Idea Spout: October 2005
http://ideaspout.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
A weblog about politics and culture from a libertarian perspective. Friday, October 28, 2005. Kill the laws, not the lawyers. I've heard "kill all the lawyers" jokes since I was a kid. "What do you call 100 dead lawyers? A good start." Heck, even the Eagles song "Get Over It" calls for such a cull. Is this the proper preoccupation of a productive society? Do we really need such a high proportion of the smartest among us dedicated to sorting out exactly how we use the state to bully and coerce each other?

They'll turn us all into beggars 'cause they're easier to please; They're feeding our people that Government Cheese. - The Rainmakers. Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Military Minors Get A Beer In Wisconsin? A Wisconsin lawmaker has proposed a bill. That would allow the sale to and consuption of alcohol for 19 and 20 year olds who reside in Wisconsin and belong to our armed forces. A federal law ties federal highway dollars to compliance by the states with the required drinking age of 21. Second, I agree entirely...

A little poker, some talk on politics and other miscellaneous tidbits. Monday, July 10, 2006. What a pain in the ass- -my computer crashed on me a couple of weeks ago. While I was able to recover lots of data, my resume' was not one of them. Luckily for me, I had a few printed copies around and I managed to scan them and recover the text. The formatting was a different story however, and I have managed to use much of this day to reassemble my resume'. Didn't you just start this job? A Slave to Variance.

A little poker, some talk on politics and other miscellaneous tidbits. Saturday, September 30, 2006. Well Congress has fucking done it. I apologize for the expletive- but I can't seem to express my feelings in any other words. Senator Frist finally got his wish and attached the anti gambling bill to the port security bill and then used a procedural move so that a vote was not required in the Senate. So much for accountability in our government. Let us follow the great words of Thomas Jefferson. Event exc...

The Pros and the Cons. Anxiety, confusion, humor and faith. Provided by Christ Notes. Friday, September 30, 2005. I don’t know why there is so much controversy over prayer in school. I can tell you that it works. No reason for debate. If I graduate from nursing school it will be more a testament to God’s grace than my ability to comprehend anatomy and physiology.
