My life in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. January 30, 2012. The end is the beginning. Kilindoni, the main town on Mafia Island, feels small. The airport is approximately a five-minute walk from the centre of town. There are no ATMs. The roads are the same white sand as the beach. My life in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. June 21, 2012. I have spent the past week with friends KL and JL, who flew in from Dar to meet me in Maputo. We spent the week stuffing ourselves with seafood, cheese plates, egg tarts, and sushi. Maputo is a wonderful city with vibrant sidewalk cafes, great muic, and fantastic public art. My life in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. August 2, 2012. It has been almost exactly a month since I left Africa, flying first from Johannesburg back to Dar for one last round of goodbyes, and then onwards from there. Birthday. Christmas in Ethiopia. Swimming in a waterfall in Madagascar. Laughing until I cried in Maputo. I carry all of it with me. I counted the stars in Madagascar. I know I am very lucky, both for the adventures and the people I have met along the way. These are the things I have learned.

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. The End and Beginning. The year 2014.well.it sucked. It just did. I see all of my friends on Facebook making those cute little 'year in review' movies about how great 2014 was, and honestly, I could not see myself ever making one of those because I spent a great part of the year struggling and dealing with things I never thought I would face.
