Then came the Miner house, where now the Westmoreland Club now stands. Then came Lynch's bank. Next was St. Stephen's Church, a frame building erected in 1823. Then came Mr. Green and his shop. Saturday, February 7, 2009. Up to 1864 what is now Franklin street ended at South, the portion from Northampton to South being known as "Green Lane". On the southwest corner of Franklin and Northampton streets stood the printing office of Butler and Worthington, publishers of the "Wyoming Herald". Steuban Butler also lived here. (Old Map). Saturday, February 7, 2009. On the northwest corner of Franklin and Market was the Eagle Hotel. Captain James Plater Dennis, a grandson of Judge Jesse Fell, made this hotel his home for many years. He was born 26 March 1812, was one of the founders of the Wyoming Historical and Geological Society, and died 7 November 1887. Continuing up Franklin beyond the hotel was the home of E. Taylor. Next was the home of George Chahoon. He came here in 1795, a carpenter, and built St. Stephen's Church in 1823.

Saturday, December 13, 2008. The Darken home was located where later was the Wilkes-Barre Business College. In 1813 it was owned and occupied by Judge John B. Gigson, who in 1816 was elected to the Supreme Court bench, where he served 37 years. Farther toward Main street was the Presbyterian Church Parsonage, occupied in 1829 by Rev. Franklin to Public Square. Saturday, February 7, 2009. Back to West Market. Passing around the corner of the Square and West Market Street we come to the residence of Joseph Wright, Esq., a good frame building, two stories high, with a small office on the corner. Ebenezer Bowman about this time purchased this house and removed from Bowman's Hill, where he had before resided. On the south side of West Market street lived Andrew Beamont, who kept the Postoffice here. Then was the home of Mr. Tuttle.
