George Washington Carver-John Perry. I Just finished reading Christian Encounters: George Washinton Carver. Before reading the book almost all I knew about George Washinton Carver was his name. John Perry does an excellent job giving a full biography of Carver from birth to death, yet keeping it concise. I have already recommended this book to a teacher friend. I was amazed at the lessons on teaching God through other subjects, and think that any Christian teacher would be well served to read this bo...

With Open Hands-Henri Nouwen. Recently I reread With Open Hands. By Henri J.M. Nouwen. The cover says, “After more than thirty years, Henri Nouwen’s first book on prayer remains a treasured guide today.” The first time I read this work of Nouwen’s I sat down and finished an hour later. However it was more of a superficial read. Recently when I read it, I was taking my time and wrestling with what Nouwen presented. Nouwen also deals with the issue of “Prayer and Hope.” In this chapter he d...By Mosab Hass...

Over the past year this phrase has become a motto for my life. I love God, and I love serving Him, I also want to make sure that everything I do, I do it all to give Glory to God. As you go on with your life I pray that you will find this phrase running through your mind as a reminder that whatever we do, it is to give Glory to God. Some of My Favorite Sites.

1 John 4:7-8: Reminiscent Thoughts & Repentance
http://preachinwildman.blogspot.com/2012/06/reminiscent-thoughts-repentance.html
Reminiscent Thoughts and Repentance. Today I had the pleasure of running into an old professor of mine from Indiana State. In fact he was my favorite professor from Indiana State, and the only one I remember by name. Okay, I get some people thought I wasn't a Christian, but I couldn't have been that bad, could I? It was this conversation that got me thinking about a couple things. First, this here regarding the qualification of elders came to mind. "Also, people outside the church must speak well of ...

However, around a year ago, maybe longer I borrowed this book from a good friend of mine, Robbie Ketcherside, and he told me several times how much I would love the book. However, being the pop-book that it was, I was certain and determined that I would hate it. So I left it on the "Borrowed-From-Friends-Shelf" collecting dust. Finally, I picked it up and started reading it. Guess what. Robbie was right, all three million times that he said I'd love it. Links to this post. 2) I enjoy eating all plant bas...

Enemies of the Heart-Andy Stanley. In Enemies of the Heart: Breaking Free From the Four Emotions that Control You. I found myself continually thinking that if this book was so helpful for me it would be great for people in our church (I am a minister); so I plan to get some groups together soon to read through Enemies of the Heart. Together. The book also conveniently includes a study guide. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. Some of My Favorite Sites.

For Men Only-Shaunti and Jeff Feldhahn. While browsing through books to read, I saw one that said, “Finally. You can understand her! 8221; I read those words and knew I had to read, For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to the Inner lives of Women. By Shaunti and Jeff Feldhahn. Based off of survey results of thousands of women For Men Only does help men (at least it helped this man) have a better understanding of women. Excerpt #3 from Peace Be With You. Its time again to share from Peace Be With You. Michael's empathetic tendency also affected his view of the violence in Iraq against American and coalition troops. What would be our response as a people, he asked, if Iraqis invaded our country "for our good"? Wouldn't we be doing whatever we could to force them out? I asked Michael to describe how we would be different as a nation if we abandoned what he considered to be our arrogant thinking. As Christians, at least as...
